Truth or Lie

Post by OpenMind »

To be honest, my reply depends on two things. Firstly, it depends on whether I have an answer. If I have not an answer and I have been asked, I will say as much. But if the person is persistent, then I am likely to tell them what they want to hear. This serves to stop them from constantly haranguing me and makes them happy.

On the other hand, if I have an answer, then I will give it to them. However, I will use tact as necessary, to the best of my limited ability, so that they might act positively rather than negatively.

I confess that in the first instance, I should not give in to an easy way out. Yet, sometimes, when I have an answer, and am able to give it in a positive manner, they are not interested in anything other than what they want to hear.

I usually always tell the truth. Sometimes being a teacher, you have to not mention the truth about something for awhile: for example, a shooting at our school this week. It was better to play dumb and not know the answers, or the children would keep questioning and become more worried as the day progressed. They know it is safe if I go outside and take my walk 6th period, something I do everyday-unless it snows very hard or rains-ever since the sniper was there a few years ago. It makes them feel more secure, if I can go out side-la de dah-then it is all right for them when it is time to go home.

MrsK understands, don't you love to go out just for 20 minutes without the kids, to fortify yourself for the last class of the day?

You must be wonderful with your kids, MrsK.

I am a truth teller. I do not like lies. If someone asks me a question and the I the truth will hurt them, I either drop the conversation or tell the truth. It just depends on the situation.

I tell the truth, I expect the truth. If I feel a person is telling me what he thinks I want to hear, I'll press the issue. I want it right between the eyes, without the fluff. I'm savvy enough to know when someone is being kind and when they're being cruel.

I normally use considerably more tact in my delivery, though. I don't work with kids, so I will not lie. If I know something but can't tell, I will say I know but won't tell. That usually blows people's minds until they get used to me. :)

I am straigt foward, and honest. Many good friends love me for it. Others loathe me, and my personality. Most of the people who came into my business in Georgia, instantly disliked me. It is possible to be honest, and kind.

Honesty can be a double edged sword. Frequently people think they want the truth but when they actually hear it they cant handle it. Tact is a useful tool. Anyhoo truth is subjective, we all have varying realities. Its not a bad idea to preface your truth with a "in my opinion".......
