Just interested, are there two different rules for homosexuals depending on their gender? Are male gays more immoral than female couples?

And, I'd also bear in mind that 'real' lesbian couples aren't like in the movies, tbh you probably wouldn't want to see a lot of 'real' lesbians at it, and......they certainly wouldn't want a man involved either :wah:

I've also known quite a few women that get turned on by gay (male) porn, so it does work both ways!!

If movies "should" uphold a version of morality, whose should it be? Mine? Accountable's ? Far Rider's? Should they paint a picture of the world as it really is - as it is for some people - or how some of us want it to be? Should movies reflect reality or be aspirational?

They can be all of those things, it seems to me, and still say something meaningful about the human condition. I'd rather watch a tender film about two men in love than a film like Hannibal, which shows someone's brains being eaten whilst he's still alive. Moral repugnance is a moveable feast, is my point.

The ones that I go to see will uphold my version of morality. You can go to the ones that uphold yours, assuming you have one. (sorry, couldn't resist :yh_blush)

All manner of perverts and other offensive people may put any kind of trash on tape they wish, within guidelines of consent/abuse etc. I don't have to like it. I don't have to accept it. I don't have to remain reticent. I don't have to respect it, and I don't have to respect others for liking it.

Thanks, I consider my moral code pretty rigorous (compassion and non-judgmentalism appearing very high on my list indeed). :p

Never thought I'd say it Far Rider but good on you. I can't speak for Far, but as far as I'm concerned, courtesy can still be given to anyone. It costs nothing to be courteous to someone...even if you don't agree with their lifestyle.

As to getting by without judging ; I didn't say I had found enlightenment! If I had, I'd be sitting in the lotus position on a mountain in Nepal, or something. I fully accept, to be serious for a sec, that we all judge, all the time. Even when we think we aren't. I just wish we were better at judging ourselves before we turn it outwards and judge other people.

As to why we like immoral films ? I think I'd flip the meaning there by suggesting that it's not that we like immoral films so much as we have lost generally speaking interest in qualities like honour, compassion, integrity, and ordinary acts of kindness (which aren't ordinary at all). And when I saw Brokeback Mountain, I felt the same - it was a beautiful story about loveand human complexity ; and that's why I liked it, not because it was a film about gay men.

Now back to the flippant. Clancy........ever wondered about toblerone? I mean, those ridges are there for a reason, right?
