so today at work the American Lung Assn. had its anual "Power Climb" at 801 Grand. it is the tallest building in the midwest outside Chicago. it is 44 floors tall. 41 ususable. the Lung Assn. holds a charity run from the first floor to the 41st. that 11,00 steps. 391 prople have signed up to run it today.

last year the fastest time was 4 and a half minutes.

Fire Departments from all over the state send 4 man crews to participate. when the Fire crews run they do it in Full gear: helmet, coat, coveralls, boots, air tank, and either 12 feet of hose or their "mulit-tool" axe thing.

the Fire Depts run last.

Last year the quickest time for the Fire crews was 8 minutes flat

the estimated total distance from start to finish is half a mile. Straight up!

unbelievable.

the best time turned in was by a 22 year old fella. 40 floors in 5 minutes, 7 seconds.

the best Firefighter time was turned in by Ankeny squad #2. all four made it up, in Full Gear mid you, in 15 minutes.
