Post by valerie »

Take him back? After he spent that amount of money on a newspaper ad?

Not on your life.

If he spent that on a DIAMOND, maybe!!

Or hey, this is even better... send a check for $17,000 to tsunami relief!

Or, Alzheimer's research!

Sorry, newspaper ad wouldn't cut it with yours truly!!

I would hope anyone who had been with me 17 years would know better

than to do something so foolish!!

A diamond? Typical. Here is a guy doing what ever he can for the woman in his life, and you would rather have a diamond to take him back. Women who are so wrapped up on material things make me sick. Why is it that a woman looks at how much he spent, when the man looks at what he did to get her back?

If he had spent that money on tsunami relief or alzheimer's research, would you take him back then? How would he do it, send you the receipt? What if the man who did this already contributes to charities?

Ladies please please proove me wrong!! Please give me faith that not all women are money grubbing, gold digging, diamond fiends.

OK, I'm done vomiting now, thanks for reading.

Sorry Bullet, I'm with Val on this one. The guy is not only a spendthrift, but incredibly BORING. For 17 grand, he could've hired the Goodyear blimp, or a marching band, dropped roses from an arplane, parachuted into the parents yard, bribed her parents ---------- I'll bet he did'nt even assure that her parents took that paper.

If he is equally boring in all other matters, he should be glad he escaped with all of his body parts intact. :yh_ooooo

I could have thought of a dozen ways that would in my mind have been better too. But this is one HE did. I am Not defending him, or saying he did the right thing, I am just messin with Val and her diamond cravings. :-)

I'm with LC, what was so bad that she has walked out, changed her number and locked herself up in a fortress (the gated community)... What is he asking forgiveness for?

My diamond cravings? I know it didn't come out right over the 'puter, but

that was more in jest than anything else. That's why I said that about where

else that money could go. And as for letting her know about it, I can imagine

there are a coupla reporters who would do a "human interest" story about

a guy "convincing" his wife what a good man he is by giving $17,000 to

charity.

I have all the diamonds I will need for the rest of my life. One very beautiful

engagement ring, and one very beautiful inherited. So no cravings here,

thank you very much!

Ya know, I gotta respond to this heat a little bit. I supported myself for many

years, and also supported my husband and I for a few.

I am most definitely NOT a "money grubbing, gold digging, diamond fiend(S)".

Ask my husband how many Valentine's Day's I've spent convincing him that I

really do NOT want him going out and spending a hundred bucks on roses,

that a coupla $2.99 bunch of daises from the Safeway would be just FINE

with me.

Or how happy I am with my 19 year old, 211,000 miles plus truck and that

NO, I don't need a new Lexus. :D

Should maybe look before ya leap. A little.

Diamonds are simply hard, brittle, compacted chunks of carbon.

Can't bring myself to see Valerie fitting that description. A fiend however Hmmm

He had to screw up big time for her to walk out after all those years. I think he cheated on her too. Would I take him back? No way. Wonder if he ever did anything nearly so thoughtful before she left him.

....money grubbing, gold digging, diamond fiend...

I am money grubbing, that's for sure. I work my tail off for what I own...surely that's grubby? Unrefined? Using one's own labor for support does not seem elegant in the least.

Gold digging...ah, this is also a true accusation. Alas! Since I was a child, I've been addicted to those silly Wild West shows and panning for gold. Never found any, but I have looked.

Diamond fiend...I despise diamonds. Cold, boring chunks that match positively everything. Ewwww! Emeralds are the thing. Saphhires are nice as well. Pearls are classic. But one stone that goes with all you own? What's next? Glass slippers that match everything?

I can't say a thing about the fiend part for fear you may all catch on to my true identity.

That was fun! :D

Can't say whether I'd take him back or not since I don't know what he did or has been doing throughout his marriage. Words are cheap, even at $17,000.

SS, you are very sweet.

(gently saying this)...There is a difference between being sorry for what you have done, and being sorry for having to pay the price for what you have done.

OK, Val, don't take it personal. I spout off some times. (if ya had not noticed) I have had my share of the gold diggers and I've met some nice ladies too. But you never really know somebody until you divorce them I guess. Maybe I'm a little over sensative on the topic. Later. Bullet

This guy did some very awful things.. that would be the reason I see her avoiding him like the plague. Theatiatrical displays of raw emmotion are common tools used by dysfunctional individuals. I hope she stays away from him. It never fails

anytime a male comes in my shop and buys 3. 4 or 5 dozen roses.. They tell you they are in the dog house... we laugh at them when they leave because they are really jerks. Most times the recipient refuses the flowers. We girls here all cheer.

Its overkill.

My decision would be based on why I left in the first place. Plenty of reasons to go back to the guy but plenty of reasons not to. He is a bit loonie to spend that kind of money mind you and I have to wonder if he is looking for the sympathy vote and wants support as he is a real F***-up I dunno. Guess each situation has it's +'s and -"s.

Article states she is with her parents in a gated community, maybe he wants her back cause she has the bucks ahahahahahaha

I'm sorry, Bullet. I guess I felt the need to defend myself because I felt you'd

hit a nerve. I'm probably over sensitive about it, too!! :-6

You know, I got to thinking about this story last night, and found myself

wondering if this might not be an abuse situation. Maybe the wife is afraid

of him and thus the gated community and phone number change. And the

guy is doing all this because it's the "honeymoon phase" that often crops

up in abusive relationships. "I'm sorry sweetie I'll never do it again".

Wife takes him back, and 3 months later, there's another incident. Maybe

she just finally after 17 years got the guts to get out...
