Pasties.

Post by Bill Sikes »

I'm eating a Cornish pasty bought at a supermarket. Distressingly, it contains "pugged" minced meat and potato, also carrots and peas, by the look. It has got enough pepper, though. I will make some myself at the weekend, perhaps, to get over this sub-standard one. I use potato, swede (or turnip), diced or similar meat, with pepper and a little salt. What goes into yours?

I don't make pasties.. but we have a local Scottish Butchers that has them and they are very good.

Now you've gone and done it! I have a craving for them :wah:

yummmmm.. pasties. Only problem is there is no place to purchase them here so when I get the craving got to make them. Potates, swedes, carrots (for a bit of sweetness) and meat. Usually I run the meat thru a grinder with a coarse plate.. not to fine.. still want some texture. Seasoned with salt and a fairly generous amount of peppper. Now you have done it.. I am gonna have to make some this weekend..

Not pastries.... pasties :) they are savory with a meat filling, not a dessert.

I could not resist this

Pasties locally means little covers with tassles that "dancing girls" use over their nipples when shucking their clothing but not quite getting nude.

Pastries are what we call your pasties over in this region.

Yeah, I knew that, I was waithig for something like this... however, why do they bother to use them? Seems v. odd to me.
