World Bartending Championship

Post by cars »

Just watched the "World Bartending Championship" (WBC) on TV. (SNOWED-in here) It was absolutly amazing, I was impressed, by the juggling, spinning, twisting, and then most of all drinks had to be the exact measurements of all the proper ingredients, and then the pour line was measured for accuracy. Back in the days when I frequented the Dance Clubs the Bartenders never did anything even close to like what was done in this WBC. :wah:

I recall there being at least several Bartenders in our FG, do any of you guys do any of that "Flare" in you place of business ?

If so, how long do you have to practice to become an expert "Flare" Bartender?

And if you do Flare for your customers, does it get you better TIPS? (I would think so)

I watched it too! I thought it was great.

If I was a bartender, it would be a skill I would like to develop - because I know that if I was being served by someone like that, my tips would be much higher.

I'm a bartender, and would LOVE to master this skill! I practice with bottles at home, and have a couple of very basic flips down. As for what these guys do, I'm not even in the same league! I'd like to take a class, as it's taking me a LONG time to learn this on my own! And definitely, the ones who can do this earn much bigger tips! As a bartender, you're expected to provide entertainment of some kind, whether it's talking to your guests or putting on a display like this. The show is WAY better than any conversation!
[FONT=Arial Black]I hope you cherish this sweet way of life, and I hope you know that it comes with a price.
