No worries! You probably had a voltage surge sometime that day - that'll get your bulbs burnt pronto.
But...if you do see ghosts, hide!

That happens to me all the time! I think it's because they are rated for a set number of hours, then, since they are all installed in the house at the same time, viola! They all burn out at the same time!

Thats exactly what I was going to say! Lol! Happens to me all the time too!
What I usually do is take bulbs from the rooms I don't need them in, for now. So if no-one needs a bath that night, I'll pinch the bathroom bulb until tomorrow, when I can get a new one. (We have a separate loo! lol) Or I take the landing light, etc. There are enough lights around that we 're not thrown into pitch blackness, just shadowed. If you can't do that hun, you'll have to stock up ready for next time. You don't wanna get con-fuse-d in the darkness, do ya?

I converted to compact fluorescent bulbs several years ago. They use much less electricity, they last for thousands of hours, and they emit very little heat. (Most of the energy consumed by an incandescent bulb is converted to heat , not light. Light just happens to be a useful byproduct).
Beware the no-name bargain CF bulbs. Some of them are pretty shoddy, and quit working, negating any money saved on your electric bill. I've had good service from General Electric CF bulbs.
