I have 4 children, my oldest is 16, my youngest 7, i have been toying with the idea of surrogacy for a while, i am aware the subject raises a lot of issues and some people tend to have strong opinions on it, and rightly so.
Just looking for other views on this, could you give up your/a baby you carried for 9 months even though you know in your heart that by doing so you could 'complete' a family, make a dream come true?
Would it be fair to want to keep in touch with that family just to.. i dunno, keep in touch oO
It's something I'd love to be able to do, but I'm not sure I would have the strength, the world today ain't so great (not wanting to sound so gloomy) how could you know for sure that the baby you blessed someone with would be cherished and loved?
Is it worth the emotional hell you would undoubtedly endure?

hehe I've also cried buckets giving puppies away!, but to give birth is so awesome... I imagine it would be similar to be handed a baby knowing that baby was now yours forever... the receiving family would be touched by that gift for the rest of their lives, would knowing that though be compensation for the pain of giving the child away? I just dunno :/

Surrogacy...
I would prefer to hear of a couple adopting, seeing all the children in need already on this earth. But to give a couple an opportunity to pass on their DNA is an undeniably awesome gift. :-6
I would make sure the contract included some heavy-duty counseling, to make sure you can deal with the whole thing.

I vote for keeping in touch and knowing the couple that would be worth it for sure.

I could do it if I was carrying a baby that wasn't genetically mine, I would never consider the baby "mine" in that case and I'd know that at the end of it I'd be giving a couple this amazing gift. I don't think I would ever do it though, I couldn't put my husband and kids thru it all but if your husband and kids are all for it then go with your heart!
