Parents plead guilty to abusing children
Jan 4, 2006, 02:32 PM CST
Two Hopkinsville parents accused of abusing their children pleaded guilty on Wednesday to a lesser charge.
The couple, Natasha Anderson and James Bush, was originally charged with first degree child abuse after police say they found a four month old and her one year old sister living in filth in their home.
However, Anderson and Bush on Wednesday were able to plead guilty to third degree child abuse. The prosecutor says investigators don't think the couple intentionally hurt the children -- they only lacked good parenting skills.
Under the terms of the agreement, they can not go back to the home and can not have contact with the children unless it is supervised.
Anderson and Bush were also given two years of supervised probation and must take parenting classes.
Where it's highlighted in red makes me see red! Lacked good parenting skills! The house is filthy....clean it up! They know how to clean a house! It's called being lazy if you don't, child abuse also as reported! Come on, get off your butts and clean! How hard is it? Stupid people is all I can say! Well I could say more but I'd get banned!

I agree. A dirty house is disgusting. Untidy is one thing but filth is another. Poor kids :-2

I hear ya Jenny.
The filth is cause for health problems, this alone is abusive.

You know what is sad is that people like this generally don't change, so I think that all these parenting classes will be wasted on them. I mean anyone with a bit of sense knows how to clean up. Nobody is born an expert parent and everyone makes mistakes but that's only human but to clean your house and do your best is something that should come naturally. Anyway sorry about the rant

I agree jenny. My house looks lived in but far from messy or filthy. I do know a couple who's house is filthy though. The wife stays home almost all the time and does nothing but "take care of the baby". They have a dog and she barely takes her out for bathroom breaks. The house is trashed all the time. Remember the Aunt in law that started cussing at me in one of my other posts?, same one. I talk to her for the baby's sake only. Other than that, no. I know how Mandy was raised. She was taught to cook and keep a clean home but doesn't do that now. It's her choice. Little birdy may call DHS and let them get wind of the home conditions. :sneaky:

Some people are just plain lazy but there are somethings that you just have to do like it or not. I don't think anyone likes cleaning etc but it's all part of a days work. I usually put on my iPod or the stereo when I'm cleaning. It makes it easier somehow

I work with families who live like this daily. I don't know about this particular case, but many families and parents REALLY don't understand how to be clean and organize. There is an aspect of being lazy, but it is by far not the prevailing problem. I know it is hard to see coming from normally functioning mind set, but it really is more complex then one thinks on the surface of it.
