Christmas is NOT over yet!

Post by SOJOURNER »

Christmas is not just one day celebrated on the 25th of December. It is a season of 12 days. It begins on December 25 and runs through and includes January 5th.

On January 6th we celebrate Epiphany.

I'm not sure of what you are refering to regarding the chocolate. Are those the instructions? Or, perhaps your own tradition has surplanted itself upon it?

It's definitely not an Advent calendar because Advent begins the 4th Sunday before Christmas and ends on Christmas Eve.

Peg and Clancy, Snooze is absolutely correct. Christmas is in your heart. The commericialization is what everyone hates, but which we all seem to get sucked into.

It's a nice thought since there's that whole buildup to Christmas, it can be a real letdown when it's over in a day. This way we get to come down gradually. :)

Precisely. A month to build up (Advent) to the day and 12 days to celebrate Christmas.

People dont know about 12th night etc. anymore. We have lost much of the true celebrations due to santa clause. The world thinks it's all about presents. Even easter has been hijacked.

Clarification on the twelve days.

There are 12 days of Christmas and they begin with Christmas Day and end on January 5th.

Centuries ago, the church set aside January 6th, the 12th day after Christmas as Epiphany, intending for it to refer to the revealing of Jesus as the Christ to the Wise Men who were Gentiles.
