Curious, but I would not be worried just yet. It may simply a homeless person attempting to find either food or useful castoffs.

Your neighbour might have put the bag in the trash or seen something. Why don't you leave one out and watch. If the neighbour is innocent you could get them to watch for you as well, in case you go out. Happen to own any surveilance equipment? It's one of those mysteries that makes you buy a shredder.
If all else fails put something in the trash to scare the crap out of them.

You could set up a video camera somewhere suitable, too. That's a bot less tedious.

this sounds strange but it could be serious. Do you throw out your old credit card statements.. or bank statements. Or those credit card offers, you know those preapproved ones were you just call them up to activate it. Not to cause concern but if a person got ahold of any of those numbers they could cause you major problems. Something to think about.

ummm... nope.. haven't read that.. but I have a friend that used to just toss their old statements in the garbage.. along with pay stubs, bank statements... etc. Well, one of the wonderful people working at the transfer station (polite name for the dump) got ahold of them , and used the numbers to ring up some pretty pricey purchases.. course this was a while ago and they prolly have new security measures .. but still it took them a long time to get it corrected on the old credit report...

Buy liver. Leave it sit out a week or two. When you take out the garbage, spread it through it while not breathing. This should stop the problem.

Racoons can be scarry. They tend to trash things out if they get stuck in say a barn. Did not realize they can get bigger then your average german shepard.
At least the one I caught in the barn a couple of decades ago seemed that big. He was very scarry and not the cute racoon you think they are. They can be visious if corrnered. And I left the barn ASAP and the thing eventually figured out how to get out the window which he came.

I get racoons around my house a lot. They don't slice garbage bags so much as tear them apart. And never throw out cheesies.
Funny thing about racoons. If you shine a light on them and try to scare them away they think it's a spotlight and start putting on a performance. Rather fearless things they are.

Well, my german shepherd dog is almost 70 pounds, and could be considered
"average", meaning well within the AKC guidelines. I seriously doubt there are
70 pound raccoons out there!
But they can be a wee bit dangerous, believe it or not even if my 70 pound
gsd ever got a hold of one!! They fight!!
