To Carl Sagan (an Elegy)

Post by polycarp »

Dark were the woods of science

Restricted to minds of a kind

You cleared and brightened thence

Pulling a throng once left behind

Many a bright star

Light years away high

To me where farther

Till you brought them by

The vast cosmic realms

Whose gospel you duly preached

There now, your soul dwells

Within dimensions you dreamed

In astronomy’s greatest page

Sagan would be printed in gold

In memory of a great sage

Whose genius enriched the world
A formula for tact: "Be brief politely, be aggressive smilingly, be emphatic pleasantly, be positive diplomatically, be right graciously".
