This is an absolute time and money waster. These officials ought to be ashamed of themselves, and at the holidays too! In case you dont know, "MARTA" is the public transportation system in Atlanta...read on...

Man must stand trial for selling MARTA token

A man accused of selling a MARTA token to a passenger having trouble with a token machine must stand trial on the criminal charge.

Judge Stephanie Davis decided Tuesday that Donald Pirone's case should be bound over to state court for trial. Pirone could face a year in jail.

An officer spotted Pirone selling the token on Nov. 30 inside the West End subway station. Following a 1992 state law that prohibits passengers from selling tokens, the officer handcuffed Pirone and gave him a citation.

Pirone says he was trying to help a fellow passenger. He says he did not ask for money and that the passenger gave him $1.75 Ã¢â‚¬ the price of a token Ã¢â‚¬ out of generosity.

Apologies to LC, but that cop is an *sshole.i would be very interested in knowing if the guy has priors. and yes, some cops abuse their authority. they get weeded out sooner or later. oh, you MUST cuff someone you detain, it's an officer safety issue. the cop probably had a reason to pat this guy down.

The only time I ride this God forsaken piece of garbage is to/from the airport. You better believe my sisters will be picking me up and dropping me off this year...

I can't exactly remember where this was but a lady was ticketed for "walking to slow". She was in her late 80's and carrying her groceries home and an officer gave her a ticket. Needless to say a lot of people were furious and outraged by this and she got the ticket torn up and a public apology. She had never received a ticket before and had a clean record. Some people are just dumb. That ticket should have never been issued.
