Holidays Vacations
The British and other europeans will take at least two holiday's/vacations abroad next year 2005, than US citizens.
Have we seen the last of our American friends in the British Isles for the foreseeable future due to 9/11 and other terrorists crisis/ outbreaks in the world at large.

Why would we Americans fear a holiday in the British Isles? We are not at war with Britain nor under threat of terrorist attack in the Isles. I personally would LOVE to see the British lands - though that may largely be an antiquarian lust

I am surpised at your post Capt. I know of any number of Yanks that have traveled and are planning travel to the UK since 9/11. Also, cruise lines have been doing a big business. The US dollar being at a low point right now however, will have a negative impact on travel to Europe. I am presently in New Zealand and although the exchange rate is not as good as two years ago, it's stilll a bargain for Americans.

And Yanks, as you put it, have also travelled to Ireland within the last few years. But I'm talking about 2005 and after. Terrorism is spreading around the world.

Guess I'm a wee bit confused Capt. What will be differen't in 2005? Terrorism is here now. Do you envision it getting worse? I don't see Americans traveling to Islamic dominated countries, but elswhere, no problem. The declining dollar will have a bigger effect than terrorisn, in my view.

Well I do hope President G.W.Bush is not thinking of invading Iran. And if He does, well I can see all hell break out across the world. Iran will be no easy task.

I don't see any invasion of Iran coming about. The U.S. is under strength troop wise in Iraq (according to some top military folk). Just not enough troops to put out all the suspected fires in the world.

It's dead easy just go up north, understand that up north is actually down south but not as far south as london. keep going turn right for edinburgh and left for glasgow. If you realy want to be adventurous you can go up north properly just stop at the top or you fall off in to the sea.

That sounds easy enough, even for me. If I get lost, I can always ask, if I can find anyone sober enough to speak to me! Will make sure the brakes are serviced. When's a good time of year to go, to get the best of the weather?

May June, pre tourist and midges! There's quite a difference between west and east coast. If you are in to mountain scenery go up the west coast.

I should also add, in the UK, don't drive on the right because that's wrong, on roundabouts you go left but you have right of way and if somebody gestures with two fingers don't assume it's a victory v sign because it probably isn't.

I nearly went for a job in Strontian once, but that's by the bye. I suppose I'll need to bring me rain hat?

How many of you would actually go on holidays to a Middle Eastern country? Its now very popular here in Ireland, for people to follow the sun to Libya, Egypt and Israel :driving:

My sister & her family go to Dubai every year....
One day I will take my daughter to egypt, I was there before she was born on a Nile Cruise and a few days in Cairo and Alexandria, she wants to see the Pyramids. I remember when that bus load of german (I think) tourists was blown up in Cairo a few years ago and that kind of put me off...

Cute. I always thought myself as Lawrence of Arabia on top of a camel.
