Posting Articles

I don't know about you, but I will not read articles that are posted UNLESS they are part of a discussion. I am really interested in what other posters have to say, and what they think, on a wide range of issues. If everyone merely posted articles from mags, newspapers etc., there would be no need for Forum Garden.

Yes, it does occur to me, and I will start a conversation based on the artiicle, but not post the article.

So if the article was posted and there were zero replies, would you respond to that? I think posting an article is one of the best ways to get a conversation going.

I guess some people do need the crutch of an article to engage in conversation because they lack the mental capacity to start a conversation on their own. :wah:

O.K.---Let's back up a minute and make sure we are communicatiing effectively. My objection is when a poster merely posts an article with nothing else. They apparently fiind an article that is of interest to them and wish to share it with others, period. To that, I object. However, commentary of some kind preceding the article is more to my liking and interest. Agree? Disagree?

I really don't need anything from the poster... I'm just glad to see things I

probably wouldn't have gotten to see otherwise!!

And if I do happen to comment on it, perhaps it will be enough to get the

original poster to jump back in and say something else!!

Disagree...The beauty of these forums is that people can do just that. Put something out there and then sit back and see what happens.

Why would you object to someone just wanting to share an article? I've seen some of the best debates come from just those circumstances! Kay? :yh_battin

Disagree. Sometimes they are interesting and provoke debate, if not it takes a few seconds to establish that and move on. If they wish to share it with others and see what they think why not?

If it bothers you don't look at posts like that.

I think the articles are great ways to start topics. Keeps me informed. Sparks my interest. Do whatever you wnat to do to keep this place interesting. I think things have picked up here in the last week or so... and its been great. Much better than some senceless verbal battles over nothing.. that I found here when I first jumped in.

I don't mind the posting of articles, so long as the source is credited, along with a link to the original online version of the article.

That being said, I don't think the full text of an article should necessarily be posted. A summary, a source and a link should suffice.

I agree with Fyrehawke, articles don't need to be posted in full (although some iI have), as long as there is a summery and a link to the original source. I don't like opening a post just to find a link and nothing else though.
