Paula, I didn't get to see it, though I wanted to. She seems a bit flaky in the few things I've seen her in during the trial. Anyone know when or where the interview will be shown again?

We Tivo'd it and watched it late last night. I was surprised. I was first skeptical because I didn't know the beginning of the story about her relationship with Scott. She interviewed well and presented herself as likeable and believable.
The sad thing is that she seems to have had a long history of having a tough time in the relationship department. My assumption is that she doesn't live her life with "wide open eyes" and once again got burned by a guy with a fast line and a smooth demeanor.

I, too, Tivo'ed it but haven't had a chance to watch it yet.
But I did just briefly glance through her book at Costco... and I gotta say,
the lady seems just a tad opportunistic to me. And using Laci's picture on
the cover is pretty low. We had a news report locally that said the family
was extremely hurt by that.
Having said that, I do feel that she was run through the wringer. And kudos
to her for helping the police as much as she did, that took some guts. I saw
one bit of the interview where she said she was shaking and sick to her
stomach, can you imagine? Must have been very scary.
I dated/lived with a pathological liar for a time. It's agonizing to say the
least. Let alone murdering someone.

Amber has sacrificed more than anyone will ever know. She preserved the integrity of her testimony by suffering in silence for 24months until now when she can finally tell her side of the story.
In those 24 months she has been trashed in the press, her personal life turned upside down.
Amber did the right thing from day one.. she cooperated with the Police, she risked everything by continuing to talk to a psychopathic killer who was obviously fixated on her. Yes the police had a tracking device on his vehicle - but how hard would it have been for him to slip away and show up on her doorstep?
IMO she has great integrity. Perhaps she has made desicions in her life that you would not have, or I would not have ~ but in the end she herself recognizes that and I feel she has more than made up for it.
I was happy to see those Jurors compliment her and recognize her for what she went through on the stand in in the months before and after.

Can't disagree with that! No offense to our Fresno or Modesto friends, but...my wife is from that area and the first thing she wanted to do when she became an adult was get out of that valley!
I hope Amber does so as well. She deserves better...

Today was the first time I got to "hear" Amber speak in real time. Previously it was on recorded tapes & some pictures in news clips. She is a single mom who though she met a well to do "single man", of course she was attracted to him. If he was truly single he could have given her & her Daughter a comfortable life. She also said Peterson was very easy to get along with, treated her great and he made her feel comfortable. In todays world everybody capitalizes on their "15" minutes of fame, and that is exactally what she is doing with the book, and TV appearances. Probably someday like they always seem to do, someone will eventually even make a "movie" out of this tragedy! :wah:
Nevertheless, Amber though seemed like she really was a good person, maybe a little gullible, and looking for a lasting relationship! She picked the wrong guy!!

Part II of the interview is on oprah tomorrow.. but I believe it is taped from the other day - just stuff we didn't see, and Amber will not be there.
I wanted to comment on what cars said about capitalizing on 15 minutes of fame.
Amber cannot live the same life she lived before, she is stalked by the media and has recieved threatening calls and letters, she can't even go to the grocery store without worrying someone will verbally assult her. She needs this $$ to make a secure home and private schools for her kids or to move away to another area of the country and start a new life.
I don't think she is trying to be rich... I thnk she is tryng to be safe from the nutballs out there. Her life was turned upside down by being involved in this trial, there is no going back to a simple existence now.

I am not impressed with her at all? She doesn't speak up at all, i found nothing interesting about any of the interviews she has done? She is still too tender, the Peterson thing hasn't changed her in the least, she is bait for another manipulator?

Paula, she is not a good public speaker at all. The only other two statements she made were prepared and read from a script.
Her testimony at the trial was question/answer and much of the time on the stand was spent listening to the tapes & reading the transcripts of the conversations.
She is like a deer in the headlights (oops where is babyrider?
) she looked very uncomfortable and nervous and she could barely form the response in her head and stammer it out.
This is another reason I laugh when people say 'Amber loves the attention and limelight'
I have never seen the girl smile ~ she is troubled by her role in all this, I think she would rather be getting root canal than being interviewed about her relationship with Scott.

Does not interview at all? I don't think she knew Peterson Long enough to state enough about anything? After this week is over, the comments will fly. I believe PlayBoy will ask for photos, the book won't sell much, Amber will be history? It's like pulling teeth out of a horse!SPEAK!!!

She is with the father of her new baby, his name is David and he is a chiropractor. His parents looked after Amber's kids when she was testifying and they are very close.
I hear that they may be getting married soon.
Amber has known David for years, they were friends and when Laci disappeared and Amber was caught in the middle of it all he supported her and stood by her. He slept on her couch because he was worried Scott would show up there.. then they became a couple.
This has been very stressful for their relationship, but they have made it through.
The Father of Amber's daugher is not in her life, he wanted no part of a baby when Amber was pregnant so she went it alone - because she wanted her child.

Did anyone else notice how the first few promos of Oprah's show said her
show would be Amber's first interview... then when I guess Dateline beat
her to the punch, she started saying "First interview in front of a live
audience"!
Interesting that Amber went on... I know she gets to promote her book
and where better than Oprah, but Oprah never pays any of her guests.
Don't know if the same can be said for Dateline!

I know (via the internet) someone who knows Amber.
More importantly for 24 months now I have followed this case daily on a crime forum I am a member at. We paid $$ to have the transcripts from the preliminary hearing and the trial... thousand and thousands of dollars this cost. I have read every page of testimony, read every available article, watched all the coverage and when not watching - had live updates from friends in the courtroom online.
If there is anything you are confused about on the case ~ anything troubling you or you want to know.. ask away, I can get the answers for you.

i'm sorry, i have nothing against amber personally - she did the right thing cooperating with the police, i'm sure her life has been turned upside down, etc. etc., HOWEVER, i'm disgusted by the shameless capitalization on her trials and tribulations. she worries about people seeing her in public and berating her and accosting her? well, what better way to slip into anonymity and obscurity than to write a book filled with pictures of oneself and then to do the interview and talkshow rounds on nationwide TV! yes, that will deflect attention away from poor little amber. and yes, i'm sure she went through the wringer. it's a shame. now she's going to be exceedingly well off financially specifically due to her bad choices in men, and the pure dumb (bad) luck of meeting scott peterson. well, what about the millions of women who get involved with scum - lying, manipulating jerks who turn their world upside down, often physically abuse them, then leave them to pick up the pieces? where's their fat paycheck for their troubles?
next up: the tell-all books by half the jurors. then the tell-all books by assorted detectives, prosecutors, TV talking heads and pundits. all followed up by the TV interviews promoting the tell-all books by same. Then the TV movie of the week about same. then the followup articles in Time, Newsweek, People, US, O magazine, Ladies Home Journal about whether this trend in shameless capitalization is indicative of our troubled/ethically challenged times. then the followup stories and interviews by all the above same with their responses to the charges. Finally, we'll be left - in thirty years - with telephoto shots of a slightly overweight amber frey gracing the cover of The Inquirer claiming she's been impregnated by aliens, and that she's visited by the ghost of the then-executed scott peterson.
i'm going to join a convent. or something like that.

LOS ANGELES (AP) - CBS has bought the rights to make a television movie based on Amber Frey's book, released this week.
The Fresno massage therapist's book, "Witness For the Prosecution of Scott Peterson," chronicles her relationship with Peterson, who was convicted on Nov. 12 of murdering his wife, Laci, and her fetus.
"Having the rights to her life story, as well as her book, provides an opportunity to tell new dimensions of the story and give viewers a personal look into one of the most notorious crimes of the past decade," said Bela Bajaria, a CBS senior vice president.
Los Angeles-based Braun Entertainment Group will produce the movie.

Paula, are you saying Amber is responsible for Laci's death?
I am afraid I cannot agree with you 1) Scott would have had other affairs with other women
2) Even though the last time Scott saw Amber was December 14th ~ he continued to romance her, talk to her, reach out to her until February when she cut him off.
He was getting NO SEX from Dec 14 - Feb - yet he continued to persue her, obviously there was something in her that appealed to him and he did'nt drop her for lack of sex, I think she made him feel good, something about her and the way she spoke to him was special to him and he wanted more and more.
If her having sex with him was as important as you imply he would have dropped her like a hot potato.

Scott had other affairs... some of them are documented - like the one when they were first married. laci and Scott were in bed one day when Scott's girlfirend came to the door
Laci knew about that affair and never told a soul, not even her Mom or girlfriends - she kept it all inside and she forgave Scott.
Other flings did not come out because it would hurt the prosecution.
The Defense would have argued - "Well why didn't he kill Laci when he was sleeping with this woman? or that woman? or that woman??" It was not to the prosecutions advantage to bring these affairs to light becaue the jury already knew Scott was an adulterer.
I don't think "Amber' per say was the reason for killing laci - it was more like laci was cramping his style and he never expected her to get pregnant. She only had one ovary and was told it was very unlikely she would ever concieve. Suddenly ths baby is coming, she is getting large, she wants money for this and that, she is too tired for sex, she is not paying attention to him as her pregnancy is her focus.
Scott's plan IMO was to get rid of laci, and be above suspicion because he was such a great guy and no one would suspect him. He told Amber he would be with her more after the 25th of January - he basically figured that one month would be enough - one month to play the grieving hubby and then 'move on with his life' collect the insurance money, sell the house & contents.
He is a sociopath and unable to feel emotions, he underestimated laci's familys horror and devestation, he underestimated media interest.. and he also never figured the Police would even start searching the first night - he thought that they would only investigate a missing person after 24 hours - imagine his suprise when within an hour of Ron calling the police his front yard was full of cops, search dogs, neighbours, the public & the media?
He did not have time to clean up the warehouse - infact, the lead detective had an inkling and sent a uniformed officer to stand guard at the warehouse while he went to get search warrants. Scott went over there - while everyone was looking for laci at the park, Scott slipped over to the warehouse and the officer refused to let him in. later of course the police found concrete residue, the boat with the pliers containing hair that was a mitochondrial match for Laci's and more.
Scott was not as smart as he thought it was and his own words did him in.
This story has it all huh? the pretty victim and innocent baby, the other woman, the weird twists and turns of a best seller.

I must say, after watching Amber again today on Oprah, something I saw
really got to me... and that was (sorry I can't quote exactly I wish I could)
part of the tapes talking to slimeball... where she said something about
how she thought whatever she was feeling or going through was only a
FRACTION of what Laci's mom was going through. The poor girl knew. She
KNEW. Try as I might, I cannot quite put myself in her shoes, but I can come
close. To have that HUGE amount of emotion swirling around in your head
and trying to deal with it... Just think WHAT IF? What if she never agreed to
the taping? What if the police just had to subpoena her butt and she told
whatever in court but they never got all the rest of it? What if? She had been
pregnant before, awaiting the birth of a much-loved baby with no husband
who cared... She KNEW.

Hi Valerie, a friend and I were discussing this the other day and he said this
"Can you imagine what would have happened if Amber had allied herself with Scott? Told him the police were requesting she tape his calls.., suggesting to him that all his calls might be monitored?
He might have used that knowledge and play-acted in those calls.. saying many things that made it seem he was concerned and/or distraught, and was working hard to find his wife. The jurors may have never got a "real" look at him.
Amber acted bravely, selflessly, in the interest of the public good, and took a murderer off our streets."

well this is going to be wildly unpopular and i have to admit to not reading the thread. i just know that within a few weeks of verdict the book is out there with gloria (i-never-saw-a-high-profile-case-i-didn't-like-allred) saying the book deal was never even discussed before verdict...right, and i have some swampland i want to sell you in florida. sharon rocha ought to come out and say she is disgusted that amber is making cash off laci's death. and oh amber, what charity will you be donating the funds to? as to amber's "bravery" she HAD NO CHOICE WITH THE COPS! it was cooperate or go down. please. she's not brave, she's a little nobody who screwed some guy the first hour she met him...and then let him pick up her little girl! what a dumb bimbo! oh spare me the brave breast-feeding amber crap. she hired a ghost-writer to say everything we already know in the public domain. there are no revelations. it's all for CASH honey! she is making money off laci's death. she and gloria on the book tour...it was pathetic, scripted, poorly performed and evasive as hell. amber tripped all over herself and could not give a straight answer. and the interviewers were clearly forbidden to play hardball. if anyone spends their money on this piece of drek then they are welcome to it. but you can saVE $26. and simply read the transcripts.

LadyCop.. I only heard Gloria say that Amber did not write her book until after she she finished testifying. That was late August 2004.
I have not heard them say she wrote it after the verdict - just after her testimony.
She did have a choice with the police.. she could have tipped off Scott to her calls being recorded and he could have said many many things that supported him not killing Laci.
I saw jurors on Oprah - telling Amber that she was a big part of them finding Scott guilty. Without Gloria to keep Amber grounded and quiet she could have blown it for the prosecution.
You need to read her book - she is a nice lady

no..if she wrote it before final verdict it would be grounds for appeal..it was not just after testimony. ostensibly she could not have even considered writing it before final verdict so the book was churned out in hours, wow, what a piece of writing!! bollocks. and of course jurors found amber interesting, those phone calls were damning...but that does not make amber any less a bimbo. as to cops....NO amber did not have a choice. she was not a heroine. she was a shmuck. and a dumb schmuck at that.

Whoo-hoo, don't hold back, LC, tell us how you really feel!!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't she have the choice on the taping at
least? I mean, I know they could bring her in (subpoena like I said in an
earlier post) but did she really have to agree to the taping?
I dunno, gang. I dated/lived with a liar, I mean this guy would tell me he
was going to his friend's daughter's bday party, then forget his lie and
3 months later... he's going to the same friend's daughter's bday party!
Gee *******, kid's growing by leaps and bounds! Some guys lie. It's
what they do. Build yourself up for the girl. Say you're in Paris, fer
cryin' out loud. Those tapes personally showed me nothing. I fully respect
that jury, they had to listen to all that, I didn't... but if it had been me on
there, it woulda hung big time, I'm pretty stubborn.
I wouldn't have been able to get around the fact of the DA who was
described as a "Laci look-alike" who was several months pregnant,
had had death threats against her, lived just down the road from Laci
and scumbag... AND HAD A GOLDEN RETRIEVER-TYPE DOG NAMED
MACKENZIE.

the cops could not have FORCED amber to do the tapings. but amber saw a nice payday down the road. i can only anticipate that this tome will be relegated to the 50-cent bin at flea markets in the near future.

Hi there.. I beleive you are misinformed on when she wrote her book. I was looking on the net and all references say she started it after she completed her testimony in August - but that she didn[t have a book deal in place, or submit it for publication until after the verdict.
If Amber Frye is a Bimbo... then we all are! including you and I, everyone makes mistakes and has regrets, I would hate to be judged on things I did in my 20s.. how about you? The only difference is that her life and things she did are pubic knowledge and our aren't.
Oh, and she breastfed

Cass and i are good friends...but are NEVER going to agree about amber. so she was writing the book after her testimony, but TECHNICALLY had no deal in place? OK i buy that, she hadn't signed yet. . she was just doing it for english lit class. just call me a cynic.

Amber Frye?
For a stiff blonde, she was smiling real good last night with Gloria, as their book sales are thriving? I could not watch her interviews completely, she could not express herself, boring & slow to comment. She seems like the type that will always be in messed up relationships...
Everyone has these on their face? TULIPS.
