To Much Sex Violence?

To Much Sex Violence?
Interesting question. The answer, however, is a complex one.
Every generation has their own ideas on what is socially acceptable, and this is further compounded by regional and ethic customs and practices.
As far as my own culture is concerned, the 25+ year-olds would readily admit that there is too much violence and culture (as a quick poll of my officemates reveals), but the younger generation dosen't seem to be concerned about it (I base this on IM conversations with a 13 year old cousin and a 19 year old acquaintance).
As far as I'm concerned...I would say yes. There is too much sex and violence. There is also an excessive amount of so-called 'reality' shows that present a rather distorted view of reality, which I feel may negatively influence the younger generation.

There is definitely too much sex and violence on TV. As far as movies, that's a bit more difficult to say. Movies are easier for us to control whether or not our children see them. But the TV is fair game, unless you have parental locks on every friggin' channel and watch what they see like a hawk. I think it is another commentary on our society that there is so much, like the only things worth viewing are violence or nudity. And TV stations can't get ratings without them. Which, of course brings us to the violence of video games. Also way off the deep end, IMO. It's like we are condoning to our kids all the violence that goes on..."Oh well, it's just part of life", as we yawn and go back to our business. I think in an ideal world these things would NOT be available for just anyone, of any age to view. Sadly, I am in the minority with that opinion.
