To be quite honest...I was quite surprised Pat left to fight in the war. I was shocked, actually. It was a bold move...but it was for something he believed in. Like I have stated before. I am not a cheerleader for this war. Many see him as a hero though. I don't think you should go around calling dead veterans chumps...that is just not very nice...and I'm sure your momma raised you better than that.

Scrat, you wrote...

"The large part of the soldiers in Iraq either have no choice and are either obligated by contract to be there or really had no choice because of social status. These soldiers are not chumps."

That is all I was getting at. :)

"Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group that believes you can do these things. Among them are a few Texas millionaires, or businessman from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid." I like a bit of heat on the boards. History books give us (or should) both sides of a battle or argument and of course we expect bias but it's still good to see both sides.

David is obviously indoctrinated and, in my opinion, worse than the people he would like to see replaced. Sympathising with Mugabe shows that he follows the Marxist agenda blindly without letting facts sway him.

My mother was French/Jewish and she had me brought up Christian because she thought I'd be less prone to harrassment. I used to think that strange but soemtimes it seems that every crazy on the planet hates Israel. It's

only a tiny part of the whole world, and the Arabs have huge amounts of land of their own, so why argue?

I am not sure if I am offended or angry or what. I do know that I should never have opened and read this thread and now that I have, I have quite a different opinion on some members.

To refer to members of our military as "stupid" or "chumps" is just something that blows me away.

I guess I am just very sad that people who volunteer to defend their country at the direction of their Commander in Chief can be thought of so shabbily by their own countrymen.

I didn't agree with the war in Iraq either. But now that we are there and have destroyed their government, we certainly can't just walk away.
