Will Feminists Praise Condoleezza Rice?

sarasara, Rice seems to be your hero or heroine, I should say. :)

I'll tell you what bothers me about these articles, though. There isn't any real backup or evidence to support the claims being made. This is not an attack, it's a request for more information. Thanks.

Songseeker :) Groups like NOW disgust me too because I don't think they work to promote equality between men and women. NOW has changed a lot from when it first started. I don't see their agenda as a Democratic party line, though. I just see it as unreasoning, anger-driven, and more harmful than good. I've already posted a rant-thread on it, somewhere.

This is the thread. At the time I posted it, I was getting pretty mad about stupid things going on that completely detract from the intent of feminism, or older feminism (I guess I should clarify that).

What you've posted here is interesting. I've never put the angry feminists together with any political agenda except their own...and it reeks of supremacy and control. I'd like to hear more about your views, if you don't mind sharing. Thanks! :)

Excellent topic and replies ... just found it!

Dr. Rice will peform at 100% in any capacity she wishes to accomplish, and a benefit is she has youth on her side which allows her to devote many more years to the key posts in government/administration.....

My only caveat is that she hasn't yet mastered the minuet of politics. It is that down and dirty kind of dance all politicians must stoop to for election and re-election.... promising the moon and delivering moon pies....

Only the very few can rise to the win, and still maintain their integrity.

If she can learn it - more power to her. I am happy it won't depend upon the feminists at all because they are only a segment of the ideology of the voting public - what concerns me more is she isn't ready to step into that kind of global power YET....

I hope she does have the opportunity some day but to throw her into the ring untested..

would be political suicide for her.

She is still unfortunately working from her academic and intellectual roots, and we all know it takes a certain street-wise knowledge to win.

With that said: I believe she would be a great president some day.

Dear Captain

The eldest son of Barbara Bush? You must be joking.

She is the current Mother of Feminism - the right kind.

When her husband was president, she was invited to graduation ceremony at a local university (I'd have to look it up and am too lazy), and the graduating seniors protested stating she "had no formal education upon which to draw information to impart to those most elite females".....

Well she persevered, and gave the most electrifying speech to them about life, raising families (her primary job), giving up her own desires for a career, etc.

Truly magnificent. That's is what feminism (I prefer...womanhood)...is all about.

Raising the children of the world must surely be the ultimate career.

There are vital women in our world who choose career paths and this is not an essay knocking their choice at all.

It is a testament to all those mothers who have been made to feel by the "feministas" they are unimportant if they are merely "raising children".

Edit: I just had to Google and find out what Mrs. Bush said....

The school was Wellesley and I have copied a portion of it - the most famous and often quoted portion:

Wellesley takes the prize for bizarre ceremonies. Whoopi Goldberg gave its 2002 address. Nora Ephron, the writer, and a 1962 graduate, spoke in 1990 on the sad, dark ages when women had to drive from New York to Union, NJ for abortions in rooms with bad lighting. Queen Noor, married to a king, was welcomed at Wellesley, but Barbara Bush, married to a president, brought so many protests from the graduating broads that administrators had to add a real woman, Raisa Gorbachev, married to Mikhail, to share the platform. Mrs. Bush zinged them with a better speech, "Somewhere out in this audience may even be someone who will one day follow in my footsteps, and preside over the White House as the President's spouse.

I wish him well!"
