My family gets together every year. We take turns. This year my youngest niece who is 21 is cooking. I am very grateful to have most of my family so nearby that we can be there in less than 45 minutes.

We always go to my mom's house & have dinner around 1:00 in the afternoon. We have turkey, ham (my daughter & I aren't big on poultry), buttered kluski noodles, mashed potatoes, my step-father's filling, then some veggies (usually corn, limas, cauliflower).

It's changed since my aunt & grandma passed away last year. We ALL got together (both families). My aunt would bring broccoli-cheese casserole & sweet potato casserole & Grandma would bring desserts. YUMMMMY!!! I sure miss them! Since they're gone, my aunt's family doesn't bother coming down.

My son and grandson will be arriving this week-end to spend Thanksgiving.

It's more or less a tradition to arrive early, sight the rifles in and plan strategy for the 3 day black bear hunt during the first part of the week.

By Wednesday night, we'll all be so dog tired..hehehehe...but, we'll manage to find the energy to pull together a feast for Thanksgiving Day. Wild turkey, dressing, cranberry relish, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, deviled eggs, corn, lime jello mold, and pumpkin and blackberry pies!

Hopefully, we'll be able to work some of that food off the following week-end so we can go deer hunting the first few days after turkey day!

Yepper....best holiday of the year! ;)

Getting the turkey Sunday, going to cook it over night on the 23rd. Making green bean casserole, stuffing with cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes and rolls. And for dessert.......PUMPKIN PIE!!! With LOADS of whipped cream! Got a couple of movies, and invited some mates over to share the day. It's one of those holidays you take with you, wherever you end up! :yh_bigsmi

my sister, bless her heart, cooked her first turkey but forgot to remove the package of giblets! EWWWWWW :wah: ...but i love this, the $300. turkey...my son's first thanksgiving away from mom, he and his girlfriend went out and bought a 22 lb. FROZEN LIKE A ROCK turkey the night before turkey day, to save a few cents per pound......so they spent the entire night and next day calling me on mobile phone at very expensive rates, to ask me what to do with it and how to make stuffing. :-5 it was a long night and day, but they finally called me to say it was delicious..... the phone bill was astronomical!! :yh_cry

We bought a Turkey fryer - I have to admit I'm scared but it is outside so BTS will only be able to catch the dirt on fire. I'm just wondering how to make gravy now?

LMFAO - I have an extinguisher in the kitchen. And giblets are good but they don't make the good grease to make a fine gravy. Sad to say --- I'll be doing the giblets is hopes. I love gravy.

Yes he is DETERMINED - and I am sad. I even thought about buying 2 turkeys.

Sure they do! Buy an extra package of just the necks. Boil them up with the rest of the giblets. You will have a deeeelicous fine tasting gravy. Trust me! :) Add a wee bit of Gravy Master to add a little color. Deeeeelicious!

Oh, and...cut the butt off the Turkey. Through that in with the boiling giblets...that adds more fat to the pot. Deeeeelicious!!!
