Overzeleous Cops? Dont thrash me LC!

Ok, LC, dont give me a thrashing for this because I know most cops are out there protecting us from harm and putting their lives on the line just to protect and serve the civilian community but as an Atlanta Native, I can tell you the cops they put at Hartsfield airport are going overboard ! This guy should have been fired after the 2nd incident. INstead, he went on to be reprimanded 13 times for 13 different problems! THe APD needs some serious re-training. I know that in light of 9/11, different measurements are being taken. But the real fault lies in the inadequate traffic patterns (they are way to inadequate for such an overload of traffic) and underdeveloped drop off and pick up areas. Its ridiculous. Then these power-tripped guys get crazy when enforcing the rules. This stuff happens at Hartsfeild on a daily basis!

Anyone agree? Disagree?

It's totally ridiculous that this person is still a cop. Some people just cannot handle the power trip.:-5

hi DG, i hope you're feeling better! and Snooze, it was a male cop in the article, not a lady cop:) ........i would agree he was out of line,(but i haven't seen the video in all fairness) we DO get people in our profession who abuse their authority, it's in the nature of police work to be aggressive/assertive, one must, but there is a line.

Ahh my favourite airport!!!!

63 million immigration desks, all manned, 60 for US citizens 3 for transatlantic, will the 60 domestic take the overflow even when domestics is empty, no they will not. I have missed connections 3 times here and I should have had at least 2 hours to spare. My record was 3 hours 15 minutes!!!

and i should also say that it's been my experience we weed out the bullies, and don't tolerate abuse of the public, or of criminals. that's why we have IA (internal affairs) investigations, and they are very serious and scary! (i am happy to say i have never been the subject of one.)

Feeling much better thanks LC. This has got to be the lousiest airport ever. I hear the LAPD has the worst reputation with aggressive police. Im sure ATL isnt far behind. But I blame this airport bullying on the complete disarray of the pattern they have for check-in, baggage claim, traffic patterns, etc. I live closer to Richmond, VA airport and I love it. Im in and out in less than 30 min. Even when I check my bags (which I NEVER do when I know Im flying to Atlanta. I have a 2 day trip to Vegas coming up with a layover in ATL and Im taking like 2 outfits so I wont have to check ANYTHING! And security should be a breeze with a small bag.
