Was thinking that it might be fun to come up with Member Awards for 2004 with categories such as:

Most Informative Posts

Funniest Posts

Most Thoughtful Posts

Friendliest Posts

Best Debater

Do you think this is a good idea and can you think of more categories. (I think it best if we avoid the "worst of" categories)

Also does anyone know how we could actually vote anonymously?

If we had nominations, then a poll might work.

I was thinking about this also. FG the year of 2004? I don't think voting anonymously is good, we need to know How People really feel? I don't think there should be awards, but i think we should have something, just my input. we always have next year, if we are still here? its all about fun, so lets enjoy.

Awards is just a term not meant to imply an actual concrete award but the honour of having won the title of the category.

Nominations wouldn't be anonymous but voting is best counted by a machine/poll which would be anonymous. If there are no negative awards it wouldn't matter which members voted for whom.

How About:

Most Understanding?

Humurous?

These are a couple more to expand on some ideas?

Oh about what Topics were HOT in 2004 in FG?

No offense, but I'm not really into the awards idea. For me, the reason I come here is to relax, take a break from work/homework, to talk, to listen. It's not a popularity contest or to see who can express themselves best in a post.

When people have positive things to say to each other, I notice that it is posted, or sent via private message.

Just my 2 cents.

Does'nt "Funniest Posts" cover Humurous? And "Most Thoughtful Posts" cover Most Understanding?

"Rating" one-another's posts seems like it may take the "fun" out of posting! As well as slow down & or even stop someones posting! (Just Thinking out loud)

Absolutely Paula I know I did, and that was gist of my point! We are (As least I am) trying to have "Fun" in here, and share experiences, views, and whatever. Starting to Rate the postings may get to be too competetive between the gardeners.

(Don't want to loose the fun & or entertainment here. Maybe I'm wrong, I have been before & will be again! (Lets see what "others" say) :wah:

PS: I know you certainly are not going for any "tissues" soon! HA-HA

I do not have a mechanical Heart, this is my personality as i speak. We need to be able to "express" ourselves, what is the limit? People come to the FG with the attitude they must be sweet, brown nosed or kiss butt. Then to track some-one down to drag you into the ring is ridiculous? Some over-look,I do often, yet i like to say whats on my mind and contribute my cents? You can say alot in a message with-out harm directly? I would feel the FG is changing all the time, the administrators are very good! Hey have a GREAT Day, no I didn't need a tissue... :wah:

Is there an "in between the lines message" in: " I do not have a mechanical Heart"?

You should (we all) be able to and you do say whatever is on your mind. That's the whole point of being in here in the first place. But do you really want everyone in here to rate you (Us all) each and every time you (we) post. There will be battles (defending/explaining) back and forth on most, if not every post! There will be no time for any new posts! :-2 (See we have been rating the posts back and forth, no time for new ones)

Anyway, your posts are always interesting, opiniated, to the point, sometimes controversial, and even sort after!!!(A Rating of sorts) You have a great day also!! :)

(PS: If you ever did need a tissue, I would be the first one to get it for you!)

There looks like some good categories setup already.

Looks like some don't want it - and others do. How about this - - why don't we all revisit this topic in about 6 months? There will be a larger cast of "characters" and a greater amount of posts to choose from.

Doing a peer review would be great as well. (Voting.)

Or?

We The Members (as adults) have enjoyed the wisdom and humor by many. The general interest is associated with mature emotionally developed people. To focus Narrowly is not an option on the award list. To up-root and merge as weeds choking the annuals, the garden doesn't grow anymore. Everything grows here, to strangulate, pesticides are used? This is my horticullture opinion, this is a garden, i thought so. I need some water?

K. I'm new here, but this actually sounds fun. Maybe, if I'd been here longer, I'd think different, but it does sound intriguing. And anyone who didn't want to wouldn't have to participate, yes? If some don't want to be involved at all, they can explain at the beginning..."Please don't nominate me for any of the contests..."or some such thing.

Valid point about the constant rating and arguing though. Damn, there's a category for you: Most Wishy-Washy.....
