I have just been reading Nomads journals again and something he said in the first posting made me think of some Buddhist teachings....from the writings of Daisaku Ikeda..President of SGI.
"The road we walk is not level. We must climb a great mountain, a task that invariably requires painful effort. However,in the world of Buddhism, no effort is wasted or in vain. All causes that you make will be engraved in the depths of your life; they are the passages in the golden diary of your eternal existence."
"Should all our prayers be answered without our having to make an effort, we would grow lazy. Should all our desire be achieved without our ever having to experience suffering or hardship. we would not be able to understand the pain and struggles of others, and out compassion would gradually wane."
"Happiness does not lie in outward appearances or vanity. Rather it is a matter of what you yourself feel inside; it is a deep, answering response in your life."

Thanks....I've got 4 piccies... all white flowers with a black background. I bought 3 black Ikea picture frames...the boxy ones about 1"deep and put these pictures in them. (not the lily pic) They sit in a row on a shelf in my bedroom...they look pretty cool ...and they didn't cost much either.
