this time of year many of us get out the good stuff...show us your favorites and your patterns! my Mom collected this antique meissen china all her life and it is now a family heirloom only brought out at Christmas.

Gorgeous pattern! The pattern is similar to what my father's urn looked like, and it is also the pattern I would like on my own urn one day. I love that blue and white china-look pattern -- even though, there are all different ones. I'm sure you know what I mean.

thankyou...it's called blue onion, and although it has been widely imitated, the only real meissen has crossed swords on the back. She perused antique shops throughout europe for 40 years for her collection.

anyone else? let's see your dishes! this is my tea service pattern, royal doulton albert roses.

Oh, I really like that. How great to have a tea set, too.
I will try to get a pic up of my china. It's just a set I bought for myself
(got silverplate, too) when I thought I was NEVER going to get married!!
When I inherit my mom's I think I will pass mine on... I have a REALLY
sweet niece I'd like to give it to.

The jug below was given to me by my husbands Nan. The figures on the jug are William1V and his wife Adelaide. He was king from 1830 to 1837 ...he was suceeded by Queen Victoria, his niece, as he didn't have any children.
Nan used to put flowers in the jug...I don't think she realised just how old it was

I used to collect jugs, particularly cream jugs. I have given most of them away but I really love this one...it's 'slip ware' I think.
I also like commemorative stuff....royal collectibles...I have an interesting victorian teapot that is black. Apparently it is a 'mourning teapot' and was bought out at funerals.
Talking about collectables, I have an old 1920s Engineers tool box made from wood. It is a real piece of craftwork compared to the plastic and metal ones used nowadays. Anyway..it is full of all sorts of small antique items that I have collected over the years...I'll see if I can take a photo. My grandchildren are always fascinated by the contents....glove stretchers, fans, tiny ornate sewing scissors, a tiny dictionary as small as a box of matches...

I think it IS an art form. Some of the Oriental plates, bowls etc are beautiful.

I'm quite happy to browse....there's an old town called Arundel in sussex that is just Antique shops and tea rooms. There is a lovely castle a small Cathedral and you can take a walk by the river...it's lovely...just a bit touristy in the height of the season.

I bought a set of china from a door-to-door salesperson when I graduated. They've been in my mom's attic for the 20 odd years since! I even forget what they actually look like!! I'd love to someday get a hutch to display them. I live in an apartment with little storage room right now & don't want anything to happen to them.

Sorry about the pics being sort of "slid" to the side, my DH informs me
I should use the display screen and NOT the view finder!:o
My china has a very pretty pheasant towards the bottom that doesn't
really show in the pic. Service for 12, not the greatest in the world but
serviceable... with a few serving pieces like cake plate, coffee pot,
etc.
