This is probably a really stupid question...but how do you get rid of long kitchen knives?
I've got some long kitchen knives which are pretty old and no longer very sharp, that I want to get rid of. I think you're generally supposed to put dangerous objects (like broken glass) inside several sheets of newspaper and just bin them, but I'm worried that if dumped in landfill someone might go through the rubbish (for whatever reason) and cut themselves on these knives.
Am I being over-cautious or is there another way to dump them?
PS. I did think of charity shops, but I don't think they would take them as they are potentially dangerous weapons.

Stupid Question...?
This is totally off topic...what a neat little animated christmas tree.
As for the knives, I do nothing different...I just make sure they won't pop through my bag, so I wrap them in newspaper.
