RIP Betty Boothroyd

Post by Bryn Mawr »

The first (and so far only) lady Speaker of the House of Commons has died, aged 93.

From Tiller Girl to Baroness, a lifelong Labour supporter, she was one of the best Speakers we’ve had - R.I.P.

I'm delighted you posted the notice. Betty Boothroyd made a significant difference to British attitudes, she brightened the nation, she had more effect on the way we think than the Prime Ministers she kept in check. I hope she get a notable public memorial in London in keeping with her contribution.
