Chilli. no "e"

it is great stuff.

Ground beef, browned.

Green peppers, onions, chilli beans, red peppers, tomatos

throw it all together in a "tomato soup" like broth, bring to slow boil

serve with Salteen crackers, shredded cheddar cheese, and a big spoon.

you can add Jalapenos or chilli pepper to spice it up.

I do, then throw in a scoop of sour cream to my serving.

GREAT

1lb/500g lean minced beef

1 large onion finely chopped

2-3 large cloves of garlic

1 chopped green pepper (capsicum) (or half green/half red/yellow/whatever)

1 teaspoon of ground cumin

1 teaspoon of ground paprika

1 or 2 teaspoons of hot chilli powder depending on your taste

Half or 1 teaspoon of salt depending on your health worries

1 tablespoon of flour

1 425g can of red kidney beans (or chilli beans for more flavour)

1 425g can of chopped tomatos.

Dry fry (don't need oil) the beef with the onion & garlic 'til cooked, then add the spices etc. followed by the capsicums whilst stirring.

Keep stirring for a minute or so being careful not to stick the stuff to the bottom of the pan then add the can of red beans followed after another minute or so by the tomatos.

Leave to simmer for a hour or so stirring occasionally and serve with whatever rice you prefer.

Believe it or not, I add one beer to my chili just adds a nice taste to it.

Also we eat chili topped with a dallop of sour cream

As for beans, chick peas, blackbeans, navey beans, any beans work well in it.

What quantity of beer?

A spit of chilli beer probably wouldn't go amiss.

A friend told me years ago that adding chocolate adds to the taste and texture. What do you reckon ?

Yup, thats right..but it has to be 70% cocoa solids..it's lush

There's a chocolate bar with bits of chili in as well. thats really nice.

Yes chocolate is good to, and sometimes molassas or brown sugar.

I use a full beer for a huge pot of chili

My Army team entered a BBQ cook off on a military post a long time ago, I built the BBQer and traveled to Fort Collins Co... We won the chili cook off and we won the buffalo steak cook off.

It was awesome!

I wish I could make the Chili that we made that day! it really was the best we had ever made. I can't seem to get that same flavor.

I love going to chili cook-offs!! YUMMMM!!!

I haven't actually got any chilli recipies, but I buy jars of chilli in oil from an asian food store, it's called 'Old Mother' I just put that in what ever I'm cooking. It's also really nice mixed with plain yogurt and put on lamb chops or kebabs. Very hot too:D

Well I was wondering what to make for dinner tonight, I will cook something I can spread with chilli and yogurt, it's also nice on BBQ chicken thighs, and you would be able to buy something like that where you live.

Actually, at some of our fairs, they have several people with all kinds of pots & equipment cooking various kinds of chili. Some sweet, some spicey, etc. DELICIOUS!! And so fun!
