I reckon we'll know everything we need to know from the book, online, soon.
So far on the releases given us I find the book convincing and Trump hilarious. I'm sure there are some inaccuracies - Wolff got his information from people who often hadn't a clue, after all and there's sure to be some details the Trump administration can point to as wrong.
But the picture of chaos I do find convincing. Is Bannon going to sue for libel over the treason allegations?
If it turns out to be true that Trump never expected to win and was horrified to do so...man, are historians going to laugh! (If any survive...)
The other thing of course is that Trump has been this book's best publicist. Is this the moment his Twitter habit wrecks him?
I always believed Trump was surprised along with the rest of the world with his win. That is why I think Comey felt comfortable with the damage he did to Clinton days prior to the election. I think the intel community wanted her barely limping into the office without a clear mandate so she could be either controlled by intelligence or impeached if need be.

Part of the amusement at all this is the insanely litigious nature of American society where Freedum counts for so much more than common sense ever could.
The American air would be so much cleaner if confidentiality clauses were illegal in non-commercial settings. It would ban legally-enforceable bribe conditions from shoring up the suppression of sex scandals. I'd love to know how many people have confidentiality clauses with the President in exchange for money.

Every time President Trump speaks in front of TV cameras it's increasingly evident he's irreversibly losing brain function. Sadly I can't see him still being President by the end of the year, it distresses me.
Here's a clip from Fire and Fury, it's where I've got to and the tone is wonderful.
On the Saturday after the election, Donald Trump received a small group of well-wishers in his triplex
apartment in Trump Tower. Even his close friends were still shocked and bewildered, and there was a
dazed quality to the gathering. But Trump himself was mostly looking at the clock.
Rupert Murdoch, heretofore doubtlessly certain Trump was a charlatan and a fool, said he and his new
wife, Jerry Hall, would pay a call on the president-elect. But Murdoch was late—quite late. Trump kept
assuring his guests that Rupert was on his way, coming soon. When some of the guests made a move to
leave, Trump cajoled them to stay a little longer. You’ll want to stay to see Rupert. (Or, one of the guests
interpreted, you’ll want to stay to see Trump with Rupert.)
Murdoch, who, with his then wife, Wendi, had often socialized with Jared and Ivanka, in the past made
little effort to hide his lack of interest in Trump. Murdoch’s fondness for Kushner created a curious piece
of the power dynamic between Trump and his son-in-law, one that Kushner, with reasonable subtly, played
to his advantage, often dropping Murdoch’s name into conversations with his father-in-law. When, in 2015,
Ivanka Trump told Murdoch that her father really, truly was going to run for president, Murdoch dismissed
the possibility out of hand.
But now, the new president-elect—after the most astonishing upset in American history—was on
tenterhooks waiting for Murdoch. “He’s one of the greats, he told his guests, becoming more agitated as
he waited. “Really, he’s one of the greats, the last of the greats. You have to stay to see him.
It was a matched set of odd reversals—an ironic symmetry. Trump, perhaps not yet appreciating the
difference between becoming president and elevating his social standing, was trying mightily to curry
favor with the previously disdainful media mogul. And Murdoch, finally arriving at the party he was in
more than one way sorely late to, was as subdued and thrown as everyone else, and struggling to adjust his
view of a man who, for more than a generation, had been at best a clown prince among the rich and
famous.

I agree I thought he looked absolutely paralysed.
Dont know much about the book apart from lawyers are trying to stop it? but is that just a promotional lurk to make people want to read it?

I was being dismissive of that book, as its lasting effect is destined to dwindle to zero, and probably just as well.

What happened to Kamala Harris' campaign?

President Trump’s bizarre hairdo is the result of scalp-reduction *surgery, careful styling held in place by strong hairspray — and too much cheap dye, according to a new book.
Daughter Ivanka Trump often makes fun of her dad’s comb-over to friends and delights in explaining how the crazy coiffure comes together, according to “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House.
“She often described the mechanics behind it to friends: an absolutely clean pate — a contained island after scalp-reduction *surgery — surrounded by a furry circle of hair around the sides and front, from which all ends are drawn up to meet in the center and then swept back and secured by a stiffening spray, journalist Michael Wolff writes in the book, out Jan. 9

“Bolton’s mustache is a problem, snorted Bannon. “Trump doesn’t think he looks the part. You know Bolton is an acquired taste.
“Well, he got in trouble because he got in a fight in a hotel one night and chased some woman.
“If I told Trump that, Bannon said slyly, “he might have the job.
Bannon was curiously able to embrace Trump while at the same time suggesting he did not take him entirely seriously. Great numbers of people, he believed, were suddenly receptive to a new message — the world needs borders — and Trump had become the platform for that message.
“Does he get it? asked Ailes suddenly, looking intently at Bannon. Did Trump get where history had put him?
Bannon took a sip of water. “He gets it, he said, after hesitating for perhaps a beat too long. “Or he gets what he gets.
Pivoting from Trump himself, Bannon plunged on with the Trump agenda. “Day one we’re moving the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem. Netanyahu’s all-in. Sheldon — Adelson, the casino billionaire and far-right Israel defender — “is all-in. We know where we’re heading on this ¦ Let Jordan take the West Bank, let Egypt take Gaza. Let them deal with it. Or sink trying.
“Where’s Donald on this? asked Ailes, the clear implication being that Bannon was far out ahead of his benefactor.
“He’s totally onboard.
“I wouldn’t give Donald too much to think about, said an amused Ailes.
Bannon snorted. “Too much, too little — doesn’t necessarily change things.
“What has he gotten himself into with the Russians? pressed Ailes.
“Mostly, said Bannon, “he went to Russia and he thought he was going to meet Putin. But Putin couldn’t give a **** about him. So he’s kept trying.
Again, as though setting the issue of Trump aside — merely a large and peculiar presence to both be thankful for and to have to abide — Bannon, in the role he had conceived for himself, the auteur of the Trump presidency, charged forward. The real enemy, he said, was China. China was the first front in a new Cold War.
“China’s everything. Nothing else matters. We don’t get China right, we don’t get anything right. This whole thing is very simple. China is where Nazi Germany was in 1929 to 1930. The Chinese, like the Germans, are the most rational people in the world, until they’re not. And they’re gonna flip like Germany in the ’30s. You’re going to have a hypernationalist state, and once that happens, you can’t put the genie back in the bottle.
“Donald might not be Nixon in China, said Ailes, deadpan.
Bannon smiled. “Bannon in China, he said, with both remarkable grandiosity and wry self-deprecation.
“How’s the kid? asked Ailes, referring to Kushner.
“He’s my partner, said Bannon, his tone suggesting that if he felt otherwise, he was nevertheless determined to stay on message.
“He’s had a lot of lunches with Rupert, said a dubious Ailes.
“In fact, said Bannon, “I could use your help here. He then spent several minutes trying to recruit Ailes to help kneecap Murdoch. Since his ouster from Fox over allegations of sexual harassment, Ailes had become only more bitter toward Murdoch. Now Murdoch was frequently jawboning the president-elect and encouraging him toward Establishment moderation. Bannon wanted Ailes to suggest to Trump, a man whose many neuroses included a horror of senility, that Murdoch might be losing it.

Michael Wolff’s ‘Fire and Fury’: Inside Trump’s White House
Ok, I believed it was chaotic and confused but I had not guessed anything CLOSE to this.
If it is even close to a real portrayal then I would guess that the Trump administration is at this moment locked in its biggest crisis as Trump has completely lost his temper and everyone is trying to just calm him down and keep him quiet.
tude, I honestly don't know if this will last 2 weeks. But if it doesn't, it will be because Trump has done something spectacularly crazy. Or several things...
With the book released on Friday, journalists have had the weekend to read it and do a little initial research themselves. Next week will be high drama I suspect as the reaction comes in
Gosh. I wish we had a Wolff sitting in on Brexit but I don't see it happening for a number of reasons.

I think the whole Bannon-Trump thing as a new entertainment venture. The Odd Couple played out on the world stage to distract everyone from what is going on with Congress and the FBI investigation.

Apparently " sloppy Steve" is looking for a job. And apparently Wolfe never had a three hour interview with donald trump and has never even been in the oval office. (according to Trump. )
But at least Trump got to talk about how great he is again in that small press conference.
that's a big call to make when someone has put it specifically in a book.

what's interesting is that even if Trump thinks Wolfe is a nobody and useless others don't seem to agree. Even the author of this article wants to know why you would let this journalist in.
Please understand: the author of Fire and Fury, the book that has rocked Donald Trump’s presidency, is a brilliant journalist. Having commissioned and edited his work in the past, I can vouch for his terrier-like pursuit of the truth and his diffident charm when handling his subjects.
That’s precisely why no remotely competent adviser would have given Wolff a backstage pass to the working life of a president who knew nothing about politics or policy, ...................

I suppose it comes down to the Republican party and how long they can support Trump. These are completely uncharted waters in America anyway.
Other fantasists with huge power have held onto their fantasies in the face of reality until actually forced to let go of them by the unavoidable reality of eg an invading army smashing its way into the capital. Trump won't just go, I suspect. He'll have to be pushed hard.
when you think about it....it makes sense that Melania seemed to always look pissed off when he got the job.....a job that he went for and didn't expect to get, being it was a bit of a lark.

Oh yes, no surprises there. My original question was whether Bannon would sue Wolff over the treason allegations to try and deny he said it. Now it seems he's trying to say that he wasn't talking about Kushner when he said it rather than deny he said it at all. If that makes sense...

Yeah, doesn't it. And that gives the rest of Wolff's claims added credibility.
Who's that Indonesian leader who's basically encouraging the extra-legal killing of drug dealers..?
That bit where he asks the people round his desk if they know what he means and goes on to say he thinks they know what he means - that's a perfect example of the way the Nazis organised their genocides: All nudge nudge, wink wink, you know what I mean?
The POTUS is using clearly Nazi methods. Not "a bit like", not "something reminiscent of" but the exact technique. It's hard to overstate the significance of this but it's Richter 7 at least to me. Horror.
Is he busy starting new fires to distract from the book?
edit: Or just starting new fires because he's a twonk?
The philipino twat .....its not nazism.....its more pol pot.....he was worse. And hes not encouraging...he admits he went around doing it himself. Yep admits to murder. He's one of those powerful asian leader who would have no trouble getting someone to bring him 4 and 5. Year olds. Take them into a plastic sheeted soynd proof room and tell them to lie on the guerney....... and then nobody ever sees those children again.....we know his police force kills children and innocents.

Ummm...trump does realise doesnt he that his own government departments and people have shares and alliances with drug cartels. Its called doing deals with the devil.....America allows the drugs in.....just like every other country does. And the minute it looks like a countrys'leader is going to change a few things, its good night sweetheart.

Trump's presidency would be a slapstick comedy akin to those about the drunk kids who lost their cars or whatever, if it didn't have real life consequences. I really don't know if he is so delusional that he thinks people adore him and what he is doing or whether he is just plain dumb.
I"m trying to stay focused and not let it get to me, but I often fail at that. That makes me disappointed in myself for letting him "win".
