Henry? I don't get it. Henry? Why can't she keep her own name? Why must she have a man's name? Could you explain, please?

Eta--I've heard of women named Michael, though I'm thinking that's not her given name either.

It's a spousal thing. If the person by right has a title then regardless of gender their own forename applies. If the person has the title through marriage then the title of the spouse is used. There's no gender bias to the rule.

Speaking of which, why wasn't Diana called Princess Charles of Wales? Royalty is certainly complicated. Btw, watching second season of The Crown, a show I get totally immersed in. Viewing it is a pleasurable experience.

The bizarre thing is that the Monarch can get to choose the name they wish to be known by - much the same as with the Pope. Henry & Harry are interchangeable, but if he wanted to he could decide to be crowned as King Fred - although with my sense of humour I'd probably make my Monarchial name Ell.
