Why would that be funny? Fundamentalists actually believe what they preach. It means that they are actually truthful about their beliefs.

Yeah youre right! What was i thinking? Lets help the corrupt company ADANI and all their rich friends rape my country and deplete and poison our only water stores. Im sure it will benefit us to lift ourselves up and prosper after the catastrophe.

All because some consersative believes they are better than the rest and show their greed by pulling in people like you to do their work and propaganda

And you do realise there are only so much food and so many jobs in the world and laws enacted by your conservative friends to stop....literally ban people from looking after themselves and help themselves? From law to town planners, councils and governments stopping people from living a natural law abiding meaningful life.

You mean giving free food to those who are capable of working but refuse to? Yes we believe in helping those who actually need it. Conservatives are happy to help people who actually need it.

And....work for whom? And is it a living wage they will earn?

Well he's achieved nothing so far. Wall unbuilt, Obamacare unrepealed - and this with BOTH Houses and White House all Republican. He's regarded as dangerous buffoon who gropes women by the rest of the world. If he's doing any good I'm not seeing it - unless you think making the US an international laughing stock is good.

Unprecedented levels of natural disaster hitting the US these days - hurricanes, forest fires north and south and you can add Houston to new Orleans and new York as hammered. I'd say climate change is playing a part. What does the President do? Encourage carbon emissions.

He's trying his best. It's the RINOS that are stopping him. I don't blame Trump for that. He appointed a great SCJ, appointed lots of Pro life people to his cabinet, signed executive orders cutting regulations, allowed the Alaskan Pipeline and expanded drilling, pulled us out of the Paris accord and other things. He is trying to cut taxes on everyone.

To be fair, he is right on everything except the tax issue. Taxes being an issue I wouldn't expect a dependent to understand. The questions though are, were those decisions smart decisions.

As for tax cutting - you just can't increase the military budget tenfold and cut taxes unless you continue to run up the national debt. Something republicans believe to be smart money management. Usually not with their own money, mind you, only other people's. Tax revenue, it seems, is nobody's money in the eyes of politicians.

You can if you find the ideal % of taxes that maximizes revenue. It's not always the high number.

To be fair to Bilbo the lower rate raising more income argument is one our party in power use over here, when they want to ease their old school pals taxes.

I can see how it could work in that more would be willing to pay without paying tax specialists to avoid/evade tax.

The trick would be to spread the tax requirement fairly regardless.

Reaganites tried that back in the eighties, and it has been argued by the Right many times.

Now, were they to put some sort of arrangement in place where corporations could request a tax relief by showing how they had taken real corporate income and spent it on employee training, and hiring, and wage increases, and possible other "spread the wealth" kind of programs, there might be some promise there.

FG has got some truly masterful equivocators, though they don't know who they are. Cult indoctrination, which includes religion, spirituality, as well as nationalism, does this.

Idea that came up with friends in the pub over a meal this evening: To what extent are the Senate and Congress starting to work together without the Presidency? And separately, to what extent is the US state machine operating while just ignoring the Presidency wherever possible? (and because the President spends a lot of time on the golf course they can get away with it...)

edit: so as not to be anti-US I'll add our brexit minister spends a lot of time in a bottle and not much in the office so I'm claiming no superiority.

It's a part of it, yes. The man has amassed 4.3 BILLION dollars, through Real Estate and other venues. You can't do that unless you are a genius. The man's IQ has been measured to be at least 153 or higher.
