forget nth korea....pepper pig's in trouble!
Australian parents are up in arms at the moment over a pepper pig episode.
According to the particular episode of pepper pig, papa pig says that spiders are little and harmless and you should play with them and not be afraid of them.
ARE THE PRODUCERS OF PEPPER PIG TRYING TO KILL OFF EVERY TODDLER IN AUSTRALIA????
apparently this episode was complained about in 2012 and it was decided never to have it show in Australia again.......but then nickleodeon bought the series and showd it again on a commercial channel
Idiots!

Perhaps we can look forward to George Discovers A Snake In The Grass, popularly known as "Mamba, he's making eyes at me!", the goriest Child Safety Film ever broadcast.
What Australia's toddlers must bear in mind is that the creatures depicted in these episodes are pigs, not people. Pigs may play with Black Widows but people don't. Problem solved. Children who anthropomorphize should be corrected.

Ok it's a genuine issue and Nickleodeon were pretty dumb but I can't help wondering whether you'd be better producing your own cartoons that educated? Freddie the Funnelweb would be a big hit, especially the episode "Freddie Hides in the Dunny". "Sam the Saltie goes Fishing" also sounds a good possible...

Oh youre going to love this then.
Only in Australia !
A young great white shark accidently beached itself....they rescued it...a vet checked it and they released it back into the ocean.
Its name is "Fluffy".
Personally i thought "Fillet" was more appropriate.
And no.... i dont know why they released or whos going to take the blame when it returns when hes a big barstard.

"Fluffy"? How on earth could a Great White be classed as Fluffy?

How could anyone not rescue a great white shark if they were in a position to? The species conservation status is "vulnerable", it's the sole surviving species of its genus and the world's already lost too many top predator species to human expansion.

Its nice to see 'fluffy' gets a hug from Spot. (Id pay to see that)
Human expansion? Fishing you mean?. Unfortunetly shark attacks here are becoming more common.

"the world's already lost too many top predator species to human expansion" is described at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Megafauna ... xtinctions
If shark attacks in Australia are becoming more common, perhaps there are more people accessible to the sharks and perhaps the sharks aren't responsible for this increase in availability. You might consider who was there first.

Irony? Ive felt a couple of large sharks and all ive felt is sandpaper.
Its funny you know. They had it impounded for a bit and onlookers were wowing and oooing.... thats not how they would react seeing it come for them at the beach.

What DO you call a Great White Shark? I suppose they could have called him Norm. But I completely get Fluffy.
You know, one of the things that puzzles me is why we DON'T have Great White Sharks around the West coasts here, certainly why they aren't off Ireland. We'e had one or two sightings I can recall in the last decade or so, but nothing definite and yet the water is in their temperature range, there's plenty of seals, so why no Great Whites?

Perhaps in order to get here they would need to travel through other waters inhospitable to them.

From my understanding they have set routes they travel.

They tag them here, south america and africa. And found they follow the same shore lines etc.
Put it this way, i surf fish and see what comes out of the waters at the beach.....no way am i stepping into that water. Similar to not jumping a fence into a paddock with bulls.

But i would have thought there were poisonous spiders in Europe....at least poisonous enough ti make you feel a bit off?
Certainly America has a couple, and Peppee is huge there too.

No poisonous spiders native to the UK, as such. There's a few that might give you a minor rash, but no more than an ant bite would. Certainly no killer ones (unless, of course, you have some sort of extreme allergy).

Ah right. If I get what you're saying the population of Great Whites won't expand northwards unless forced by for example overpopulation in the Med. I did wonder if the the amount of shipping coming through the English Channel might be blocking them but it's probably not a major factor if it's a factor at all.
edit: We do have False Widow spiders now in this country (northward expansion due to global warming). Apparently they can give a nasty bite but are unlikely to be fatal.

Really?...thats interesting.
Isnt it funny what you get used to and live with though. Redbacks dont bother me ,i just wipe or flick them away.
What i am a bit afraid of these days after a nasty reaction are bees. Ehich upsets me greatly cause i like bees.

They might have a bit of trouble with the Med, with it being almost entirely landlocked.
Although we may have some False Widows in the country now, they are still not native. We also have massive flocks of parakeets round here. They're not native though - same with Grey Squirrels.
