Mr LePage called Mr Gattine and, when he was unable to reach him, left him an abusive, expletive-laden voice message.

The recording was released by the Portland Press Herald.

He later invited reporters from the Press Herald and WMTW TV channel to an interview to explain the voice message, and told them he wished he could shoot Mr Gattine in a duel.

"I'd like him to come up here because, tell you right now, I wish it were 1825," Mr LePage said.

"And we would have a duel, that's how angry I am, and I would not put my gun in the air, I guarantee you... I would point it right between his eyes, because he is a snot-nosed little runt and he has not done a damn thing since he's been in this legislature to help move the state forward."

Maine Governor Paul LePage criticised for 'racist' remarks - BBC News

Oh my.

I suspect Maine Governor Paul LePage is unwell.

I think the racism was earlier, the quote in the opening post was a consequence of his being criticised for it.

Governor LePage has proved that he is nuts with a few tirades about blacks and Hispanics coming to Maine to get women pregnant and sell them Heroine.

It's been going on for a year or more.

This latest bit is just icing the cake.

The american elections are so polarising that we have a show called 'planet america' dedicated to it.

Sorry, but our Governor here in Colorado hardly wears an Iron Heel. He is actually a rather likable fellow.

He changed his mind again. He's going to stay in office but seek "spiritual guidance."

Very good - I expect we still have one in Kingston too, or Port Stanley.

Ummm..... our Governor General is the Queens representative in Australia. I think she has a few Governors in commonwealth countries. One of them one hell of a heel in the seventies .Remember 'The Dissmal' of an elected government?

Ive spent time in Maine, it really doesnt surprise me this Governor is from there.

My word... the governor of Maine is still in office? He didn't retire? The spiritual guidance didn't work its magic?

He just had another bid to be Man Of The Year.Lucas St Clair, whose family acquired the land using the Burt’s Bees fortune, told the Guardian that the governor’s refusal to erect signs was “spiteful and destructive.

“It’s one of the most irresponsible things he could do for the region, St Clair added. “To place signs to show the way to the national monument is a simple thing. It could even be [done with] private money. But he has refused to allow that to happen. It’s a sophomoric and petty way to behave.

I guess the "spiritual guidance" he sought didn't help much.
