This is just really peculiar.
A mother who cannot breastfeed her baby for medical reasons has said she was “guilt-tripped by Tesco for buying baby formula. Laura Leeks said staff refused to let her park for free because she bought only the formula during a visit to a store in Essex.

It's quite clear Tesco had no choice in the matter. Free parking is a Tesco promotion, the only thing she bought was milk formula, the law says no company can promote milk formula sales. How is this anything to do with Tesco other than that she chose to make her purchase there and subsequently refused, even after being offered it as a way out of the legal gotcha, to buy anything additional for which she could have been rewarded with free parking? Why is Tesco being blamed?

Of course it's a consequence of the law. Had the law not prohibited it, Tesco would have been able to allow it. All she needed to do was buy a Mars bar as well.

Does Tesco have a parking charge in all their stores ?
I don't think I have paid when using the store.
It makes sense to have a timed limit to free parking with a refund on prepaid parking as you checkout, to stop non shoppers abusing valuable parking space.
And......even if the store does charge, but on this special occasion has a voucher offering free parking......is that an inducement to use the shop or to buy baby milk ?
I would argue it's debatable. Are they charging all drivers popping in for a packet of fags ?

A couple of problems with this story.
First world gobbledigook, making simple everyday tasks into a fiasco.
Firstly, why does it matter the reasoning behind buying a product from a super,arket.......... since when does a food chain take it upon its self to have to know why you are purchacing an item?
Secondingly who the hell pays for super,market parking ? And worse still at the discretion of an individual employee?

The person that refused to stamp/accept the free parking ticket was a jobs worth.....because it's ALL down to that one on one meeting at the checkout......unless Tesco has made it's employees aware of the law......and why would they ?
