A very good article. You Brits have much to be proud of in your rich history.

Thanks for the 'national compliment', and the link, Ahso! You guys lost quite a few brave men in WW1 and WW2 as well. You can be proud of their sacrifice, especially in WW2. We needed all the help we could get to defeat Hitler! If we had all failed, I shudder to think what the world would have been like today....

Today is Veterans Day over here.

Didn't we used to call it 'Armistice Day?'

Used to be. in 1954 US changed it to Veterans' Day.

A lot of old school people still called it Armistice day into the 60s

But of course - everyone knows it was only the Americans who were the conquering heroes of both wars (despite being late for both).

Yup. It always helps to toss some fresh meat into the fray at just the right time. You're welcome.

What happened to Kamala Harris' campaign?
She had the black vote all locked up.

I'm sick to death of politicians dreaming up wars and sending young men to die in them - if they declare a state of war then they should be on the front line to fight it.

The second Gulf war was fought a pretext;- W.M.D., better known as weapons of mass destruction, allegedly possessed by Saddam Hussein and deployable within 45 minutes! This was the reason Dubya and B-liar insisted we invade Iraq and perform a little 'regime change' which ended up de-stabilising the country and letting in ISIS!

My Father and I were amongst the 3 million or so marchers in London who protested at this unsanctioned, bipartite, illegal attack on Iraq.

So if it's 'crocks' we're talking, how's that for a good example? Millions of American people were lied to, and millions of British people were lied to also, and well over 100,000 Iraqis have died as a result! Does that make Dubya and B-liar war criminals? You betcha!!
