Today has been an awful day. It's cold for the time of year and it's been precipitating since about 11 am. Our poor dog has had a couple of soakings just going for a quick comfort walk - well would you want to go to the loo and sit under a cold shower ?

Oh what a nice day it was yesterday ! :-6 We went out to our old stamping ground and enjoyed a walk with our dog Jessica along a canal towpath. On our way back along this towpath the dog decided suddenly to jump into the weedy water via a gap in the bank weeds, made by anglers, and she realised that the edge was a bit steep and she couldn't get her front paws on the bank to pull herself out of the water. There was a lot of frond weed and reeds and she could have got herself tangled and in trouble, but my son quickly got to the edge and managed to grab her collar with one hand and got an arm around her and under her chest at the back of her 'arm pits' with the other and dragged a very wet dog from the water. He said she was quite a bit heavier with all the water in her fur, so it was more of a struggle to pull her out than he expected.

Once she was safely on the towpath and her lead replaced on her collar, she shook herself vigorously and showered us all with slightly smelly canal water! Good job we had her towel in the car boot. Although she absolutely loves water and swimming, I think she may have learned a lesson from that particular escapade ! :yh_eyerol

It was a very warm day and she soon dried off walking back to the car so there wasn't a lot of towelling down to do !

Funny story Gill. :wah: It reminded me of the time we took my little 4 month old dog, Pork Chop in the boat when we went fishing. She decided she wanted out and just jumped out of the boat in a cold, very deep lake in Wyoming. I don't think she realized what it was she was jumping into and looked surprised as my ex reached down and pulled her back in.

Have you noticed how inanely persistent this plethora of religious/anti-religious threads is, and how they try to take over this forum at times? Rather like those irritating Jehovah's witnesses who just won't take NO for an answer? Do these people REALLY think that by banging away endlessly they'll convert folk to their way of thinking? It's like an endless "spam" sandwich!!

My solution; Everyone who's fed-up should post on as many "mainstream" threads as possible, thus knocking the religious threads down the page till they drop off, and DON'T ENCOURAGE THEM BY POSTING ON THEIR RELIGIOUS THREADS!!

How does everyone else feel about it?

When I have been away on hols. in the past I have always taken my laptop with me and carried on posting, however, this time I was unable to get online, so I've had to wait till I am back home again.

When all that rain fell in the week with flooding in many places, it skirted round where we were in Norfolk and we had sunny days ! :-6 Yes we had a very enjoyable holiday, thanks ! It didn't last long enough though, and I didn't want to return to the hum drum midlands ! :-5

You can't beat a good holiday! Time to relax, have fun, put worries and cares to one side, meet up with family members you don't see very often. The only problem with holidays is that they end!

Some people can be rather selfish and inconsiderate can't they ? We have the misfortune to live next door to a grand-dad who, from time to time, has a daughter call and bring her partner and her children to visit. Fine, no problem. The children, being children, are naturally noisy but they mostly play on the playpark and that is manageable. However, mum and dad and grand-dad have to play 'music' in their back garden !

Now, as the evening wears on and more drinkies have been consumed, deafness becomes more and more apparent and the volume of the 'music' increases. Then one of the children is messing about in the playpark so mum has to screech her 'gerr 'ere' in order to verbally chastise the child ! Of course the child doesn't hear his screeching mother above the loud 'music' so screeches back 'WHAT !! ' and so it goes.

Today one of the children had a birthday, so 'festivities' commenced at lunchtime, it being Saturday and a sunny and very warm day. Music was at a reasonable volume and there was just chatter from the adults - the children were happily playing on the playpark.

It is now 9.50 pm the party has progressed, by teatime, to more or less riotous activities accompanied by louder and louder 'music' and louder and louder screeching adults and children. We were going to watch something on TV but we were unable to hear the program. It was such a warm, humid day that we just had to have the windows open. We had a large fan going full chat as well, so we had to resign ourselves to missing the TV program and putting up with the dreadful racket from next door. For the fifth time that day/evening I was wishing for rain. (There have been warnings that the UK could experience tornadoes !) but my request, as yet, hasn't been granted. Goodness, somebody is saying goodbye !!!!!! Does this mean that some of the children are going home ?

Oh gawd, they've turned the music down, but (they being now deaf) are shouting to each other in the back garden and laughing hysterically over silly jokes.

Maybe this will carry on till around midnight or one o'clock ! Makes you wish it would rain every Friday and Saturday night !

Glad its quieter. We had a Friday night like that here in Bulgaria it was very noisy with kids running round a restaurant and bar screaming til one. No one told them to stop screaming which is the one thing that drives me nuts.
