Gap in service

Post by spot »

The site just had a half-hour during which it was unavailable.

I went onto the management page and clean rebooted, the site appeared to be back but the http port checker said apache was offline.

dig forumgarden.com a

came up with no IP address, and my browser said forumgarden.com not found.

I logged into Joker and the nameserver information was all intact.

Five minutes later dig showed the correct IP address, and I have the site visible again.

I don't think the problem was with the host, I think the DNS fell apart for a while which is really odd - it's not meant to do that. I was beyond the cache timeout period so getting the current address was in order, but it wasn't there to be had.
