I almost wrote Arthur Daley, so many of his other roles are so far back in the past. I reckon he was made for the part and he was lucky to get something so well written. He had any number of albatross hung around his neck from dreadful English films like "Top Secret" - my word it was appalling - and that would have been the way he was remembered but for Minder. As it is, he's a permanent part of British culture.

I always thought of minder as about flash harry in his later yers
