Firefox new function ?

Post by Bruv »

I have just discovered a strange function with Firefox.

On many sites to the right of the address in the address bar there is a book icon that when clicked, simplifies the site, taking away images. There is also the function to change the font from Serif to San serif and to alter it's size.

What is that all about, does anyone know why you would want to do these things ?

I must have a different Firefox, I can't do any of that.

It is.....according to the About Firefox box....."Firefox 39.0 Mozilla Firefox for Ubuntu canonical-1.0"

I have only ever updated as and when the scheduled distribution updates happen.

There are some other functions I have never explored, namely, a "Save to pocket" icon and a "Share" thing that I would need to activate. And a Beta thingy that I can start a conservation with, if I choose to Sign Up, but I wouldn't know where it might take me.

I don't have any such function on mine, but if it's just appeared on yours might it be something to do with their recent merging with Pocket?

My firefox was 38.01. But it just updated. Now I see what you are talking about.

I'm on Firefox 31.8.0, whatever that implies.

That bit about the simplified page view function ? That is self explanatory, there are browsers that only display text and FF is offering that function to people that want it, for me that is far too serious, I like a picture or two.

It is the Pocket thing that has me beat.

The FB account seems to be like the Trekkies or whatever they call themselves, nut cases promoting a lifestyle.
