Hey you... I've had occasion recently during my "commute" to travel a

freeway with pretty heavy traffic, moving almost at the limit, not 25 per

or anything... and since I'm really good at checking my rearview mirror I

often see bikes coming up behind me, I think a lot of the commuters ride

to avoid the traffic. Anyway, when I see them coming up I always pull a

little to one side (while staying in my lane) just kinda to let them know I

see them and yield a little bit. I've had a couple riders sort of raise a

hand in thanks, and I wanted to know, do you guys appreciate this or

does it "creep you out" a little and I should quit?

Any biker anywhere that says he doesn't appreciate it when a cager lets them know they see him is a friggin goof. It's always the biggest fear: not being seen. The moving to one side is less important than letting the rider know you see them.

It wouldn't creep me out, (I doubt it would creep most out) you opening up a little space, but knowing you see me makes all the difference in the world. Thanks for looking out, it's appreciated!

i have said this 800 times!! most cars don't see bikers! i hear it all day long. BR you have to ride SUPER defensively. i give every bike a half-mile. all around.

Well, Puddles, that's a very interesting, potentially involved question.

I'm ambivalent about the subject. Some days I think it does exist and I am already there. Other days, I am sure it doesn't exist at all.

I do believe that people will get what is due to them when they die. Whether that's reward or punishment depends on the life they have led. If a person has caused misery, they will suffer misery, if not in this life than in the next. If they have been kind and generous, they will receive kindness and generosity in return. Some people will suffer or enjoy their own personal version of hell (or heaven) while they are still living this life.

So, I really don't believe in hell as it is described in the bible, but I do believe in karma. You get what you put into this life, both while you're living it and when you're done living it.

Do you believe in the soul as a living breathing entity ? Do the vast eons of space hold answers for us regarding an afterlife ?

In your opinion is there a master plan or just all so much coincidence that our universe works so well ?

Yes, my thoughts on a heaven of some type coincide with my thoughts on "hell."

I believe there is a lot we don't understand, and most of that we never will understand, because most people have forgotten how to believe in magic, in the impossible, in the unexplainable. Everyone is so cynical, (myself included) that any explanation of anything that isn't proven by scientific fact is dismissed as frivolous, a fantasy. The difference is, I do believe in the impossible, the improbable. I dismiss nothing as impossible, simply because we don't know.

A master plan, huh? As in, everyting that happens has already been choreographed? Sometimes I think that, but not always. My brain is pretty flexible and accepts something one day, and rejects it the next. Example: If everything is destined, preordained, plotted out already, that means that the psycho killer who snaps and walks into a hospital nursery and blows away 20 babies who've been alive for an hour is part of that plan and those children weren't meant to live. That is something I can't accept. I go back and forth with myself on this type of thing all the time. I guess I can't provide you with a more elaborate answer than, "I just don't know, but I can't dismiss the possibility of anything."

I actually had a knee-jerk reaction to this question and started replying right away. But as I wrote, I realized it wasn't what I really thought. I have to think on this one for a few.

This isnt really what I had in mind although some might find this concievable. I dont think anything is preordained, perhaps the path is set when the drunken prostitute mother gives birth or the long lineage of angry fathers teaches yet another son what women are good for, but I believe our destiny lies in the choices we make. Like your karma thoughts. However I think the master plan is beyond literate comprehension (at least it is for me)

My soul lives and breathes yet its destiny is unclear.

OK, this took some thought, but I think I've got it.

#2 bothers me more than #1.

Both are wrong. Both are signs of the ignorance of society and the unwillingness of people to learn about things they aren't familiar with. However, people thinking bikers are ignorant trash is partially the fault of the bikers. (You could realistically place a good amount of the blame with the media, as well.) We get rowdy, we look a certain way, we are loud, obnoxious and generally act like children a lot of the time. When you do hear about us, it's not usually good news. People who aren't familiar with the lifestyle can be forgiven for the conclusions they draw.

Women are stronger than most men give us credit for. Both mentally and emotionally. For society to accept looking on women as second class citizens, (and we still are, in lots of ways) is even less acceptable to me than the misconceptions about bikers. Continue with the practice of accepting it, men and women alike, and the next thing you know...we actually WILL be dumb and emotional wrecks.

Bikers will never be understood by anyone but other bikers. That's fine. If women will only ever be understood by other women, the human race is in deep doo-doo.

I personally find women to be intrinsically stronger than men in many aspects. Ive never thought of the sexes as an us vs. them, rather we compliment eachother equally.

I find women to be extraordinary in so many ways theres just no real way to make a comparison.

We are supposed to be different, thats the beauty of it all...

Of course !

When I was in Florida I went to Cape Canaveral. I saw an IMAX film of video taken from the shuttle. Im not adept enough to describe that feeling except to say it was enormously awesome. Also to go out and see the shuttle on its launch pad is extremely humbling.

We could watch the launches from across state and from several hundred miles away it was spectacular.

Now Puddles...if you really DID know me, you'd know that if I f*ck with you, I at the very least have some respect for you. It's the people I completely ignore that I don't like.
