What are you doing for Christmas day?

I'm always interested in what people get up to around the world on Chrissy day.

I just found out it will be 29 degrees C' on Christmas day this year so that means seafood, seafood and more seafood.!!! .......and beer.

Shall be spending Chrissy day with my friend at his house. We've begun a small tradition of watching the 'Carols by candlelight' together on Christmas eve. His children are coming on Chrissy Eve and it will be good to see his only granddaughter take in her first 'conscious' Christmas. I won't see my boys until New years.

Some friends of mine are not seeing their family on Christmas day this year. They are escaping out to sea to spend a day on their boat together. That's pretty cool

So what are you guys up to? A quiet one? or an all out family affair? Will it be snowing? Or are you in for a heat wave?

Myself, my three children, my mum and my brother will all be eating traditional Roast Turkey, Beef and Pork with all the trimmings. Will be interesting, my main oven has packed up so I will have to cook with a small top oven and a halogen cooker, should be fun :wah:

No idea on the weather not looked been too busy getting ready.

I shall be glad when it's all over, not a lover of Christmas, think it's a lot of hype and pressure just for one day.

This Is the first time In many years I won't be going to Kempton Park to watch The King George live. With my husbands health, I want to be with him as much as I can now.

Christmas Eve day time, we are spending at the homeless shelter In Bath and then on to Midnight Mass. I'm not overly religious but the Vicar Is one of those young, trendy, groovy type men of the cloth and It'll be a lot of fun also.

Christmas day, holed up Indoors with Peter eating, watching TV and doing what we feel like.... Same Boxing Day... rest of week down to Brighton and various relatives for visits.

There will be ten of us tomorrow for a family day before Christmas.

On Christmas Day I'll be going over to my granddaughter's for the roast etc. Great grandson's first Christmas.

Nothing much happens at Chez Bruv's.

We will eat too much, after I have cooked it.

Suspect we will be visited by the inlaws, and my kids that are local, most are too far away to drop in.

Christmas lost its magic for me as soon as the kids grew up.

Christmas Eve - me - hubby & my brother will be at a Casino playing.

Christmas Day will be at my house - me - hubby - brother - sister & her hubby will be together for a lovely standing rib roast dinner and several other dishes.

We'll open gifts - laugh a lot - eat too much and call it a day.

We had C'Mas in January 2013 since my hubby was in the hospital last C'Mas.

This C'Mas will be pretty simple.

I'll be happy when it's over - I'm with you Betty - too much hype for one day.

Looking forward to a healthy 2014

Here's to a healthy 2014 for all.

Hubby and I will be going to his sister Martha's home on Christmas day as we have done for the last several years. But...Martha won't be there. Martha loved her family and loved Christmas. She had already put her tree up with presents underneath, decorated her yard with the white wooden deer that Hubby had made for her, and baked her Christmas cookies. She did all this joyfully every year. Her husband, her children and grandchildren plan to gather at her home for Christmas to celebrate not only the Christmas season, but also to celebrate Martha's life. They invited us to come of course. We will all bring a covered dish, exchange gifts, and light a candle in her honor. I know this will an emotional day, but I'm hoping there will be more smiles than tears. Martha's sudden death has left us heart-broken, but I, for one, am so grateful to have known her.

My family lives many miles away and I don't get to be with them as often as I would like. Martha always made me feel welcomed here, especially during the holidays.

Ha I know a few people who lurve minced pies . I'm afraid I'm not one of them . I'm looking at six packets of mince pies on a kitchen counter and I know they wont be there by boxing day lol .

I'm afraid I have an aversion to mince pies. When I was a girl I was introduced to them as "mince meat pies" .........where I live 'mince meat' is ground beef. (ie you put beef in a mincer and mince it) ...........Thinking I was about to have a meat pie I bit into it and thought the meat was off or something. Oh yes we laugh about it now, but back then, it was said I was dry wretching for days. Havent been able to stomach them since. I'll buy them for others though.

My Mother always made her own mince pies... she was convinced shops just swept up the sawdust and droppings and put them In pastry.

Lovely to see so many of you surrounded by your families at Christmas. It's a reminder of how much we are all loved and to be cherished. Can't wait to see my bunch In the new year.

Originally they wouldd have been minced meat with a little bit of dried fruit added. Now it is dried fruit and spices but probably contain suet. That stuff you hate too...lol

I don't care for minced meat pie either - my Dad loved them & my Mom would make many.

You can still buy mince meat for pies in a can same as many other pie fillers.

I mentioned to my Mother today that if it came to it I could always do cheats roast potatoes in the deep fat fryer instead, her face told me that it would not be acceptable :wah:

I like midnight mass but babysitters are scarce on Christmas eve sadly.

We will have a flying visit from my sis on Christmas Day too, normally we'd all be together as one much bigger family but her and her boys are off to New York on Boxing day so they leave Cornwall on Christmas Day afternoon to get to Heathrow on time.

Tradition In our family for Bubble and Squeek with Mash and cold meat and pickles on Boxing Day. Everything gets thrown In the Bubble Including left over Yorkshire puds... have to say this Is my most favourite meals of Christmas.

For the last 3 years or so my son & I have made the long trek 50 miles north of us to have a delicious Xmas dinner at his girlfriend's parent's home. Her father's family, a lovely group, also attends. We are doing the same this year with a Big Exception----------Yesterday my son & his girlfriend became Engaged! I've been assured by his future mother-in-law the Best Champagne will be flowing. She is really a wonderful hostess (unlike myself).

Well, Customer emergency has been resolved, and I am back home. two of our three kids, and a several of the grandkids are coming tonight, for a rib roast dinner, then tomorrow we all go over to wife's sister's house for even bigger Christmas dinner. Lots of people, games of chess, cards and pachisi, followed by singing of carols and folk songs.

I'm eyeing off the food in the fridge. Oysters, King prawns, Muscles, and a Cray. (Lobster) And the weather is beautiful. And the Beer fridge is full. ( 4 more hours to lunch......bugger. ) A cool breeze but not a cloud in the sky and hot temps today . Perrrrrfect!!!!!

and if anyone gets any reports from NASA that there is a huge front of bubbles in the atmosphere today ...Don't be alarmed ......we went out and bought giant bubble wands for any kids we see playing out on the street today

Last time I had Mussels was when I was in San Francisco a couple of years ago.

I will spend my Christmas holidays with my parents & friends.

Will eat special dishes which are made by my mom and share some secrets with my elder sister and brother.
