Vinegar curbs appetite

Post by SOJOURNER »

The following item was found in our local Sunday magazine section:

"Having vinegar with meals -- even mixed in a glass of water before or a salad dressing during -- may lessen damage from high carbs while curbing appetite and possible weight gain.

In a new Swedish study, downing 2 or 3 tablespoons of vinegar with white bread cut expected rises in insulin and blood sugar by about 25%. Surprisingly, subjects also felt fuller.

This study confirms research by Jennie Brand-Miller; of the University of Sydney in Austrailia, finding that eating 4 teaspoons of vinegar in a salad dressing with a meal lowered blood sugar by as much as 30%.

FYI, vinegar drinks are now popular in Japan."

Has anyone else heard of the health benefits of vinegar?

I have heard that it helps with many health issues including Migraines.

I love cider vinegar! Every salad I have, I put cider vinegar on it.

Cider vinegar has been in use since 3000BC and used for such things as arthritus, high blood pressure, heart burn, insomnia, kidneys, bladder, headaches, fatigue, etc.

Vinegar, in its various forms, is finding its way into every quack weight loss remedy out there.

This kind of research really offends me, because it takes public attention off the problem, and encourages destructive behavior.

Sending a message that you can eat anything and by drinking vinegar everything will be all right, is irresponsible, unethical, and innaccurate.
