Talk about your dubious honor. I just found out that I'm trying to teach in one of America's least educated metro areas. And I'm doing it at an ALTERNATIVE SCHOOL!
What am I? A glutton for punishment? :-5
Now, to be fair, the only reason my community of 40,000 made a list that includes other cities of 100,000 or more is that they include all five of the surrounding communities when they call us a "metropolitan area."
Also, due to the fact that we live next to the largest indian reservation in the world, the Navajo Nation, and the poverty is EXTREME there, a lot of this data is not only definitely skewed but flat out false.
Still...I love my little community. So we're a city of blue collar oil field workers, what of it?
It doesn't make us bad people!:-2
@#$*%?!!! Dubious Honor

But you wouldn't have it any other way..................would you ?
I thought I knew more than this until I opened my mouth

You are right.
To call any of those areas "Metropolitan" is a joke.
I am sure that in most of those areas, most people who do go acquire an education find somewhere else to make a living.
I found the "Metropolitan Area" in which I grew up on that list, as well, not to far above yours.
On the other hand, where we live now is listed as #1 educated metro area.
Given my druthers, I think I would trade places with you.

Yeah I think you are both right. As an educator, I guess the best place to make a difference is here. Funny thing is, we have one of the premiere two-year community colleges in the country...but that doesn't count?

Apparently not for that survey. They are looking at some fairly simple criteria.
Principally the percentage of the general population with bachelor or higher degrees.
Then they correlate some info on income levels and such.
