Do you have a life ...

Post by sugarpuff »

I think it is a shame ..

We are fifty years and older .. We live through all sorts of

things good or bad ...

Here we are wasting our last years of our lives .. on a computer ...

Isn't there something better to do .. then sit on a computer for hours ...

reading all sorts of utter nonsense ...

Do you feel this is an addiction or the devil's tool ...

I know you are talking tongue in cheek, because you are online every day and you are loving it.:p

I use the computer all day, every day, as it's the key point of my job - Internet Communications. However, when I get home & power up the PC, it's a way of unwinding because it's a totally different scenario. Also, I'm somewhat sociophobic, so going out with others would be the last activity of choice for me. Leave me alone on my comp & I'm happy.

I think that there's as much nonsense in "real" life as there is online, so either I'm wasting my last years with both, or, neither is a waste. I don't actually know.

:wah:

I spend time with Hubby, who doesn't use the computer.

I keep in touch with my family who live far from me.

I have a full-time job.

I go on vacation twice a year.

I ride with Hubby on a motorcycle.

I read books.

Wasting my life? No, time just seems to go by so fast. ;)

I wonder how many who criticise computer users as 'not having a life' spend their time glued to their mobiles.

We had an outbreak of foot and mouth In Britain some years ago and the government shot the lot of them.

After a little thought I have some more to say.

Funny how some people have took umbrage, but I suppose that was how the topic was posed.

If you think about how computers have affected and even dominate our lives these days, whether we use them for leisure time or not.

Mobile phones are small computers, they allow us to make payments and check balances.

And after all PC's are only tools and tools can be for good or bad depending how you use them.

I couldn't do my job without my laptop. Yet, funny enough, I loathe mobile phones. I don't take them out with me, look at them or even answer them, I can't text, I have nails to consider. As for predictive text, I can't be doing with the uncertainty that typing the word ' count' Is actually going to come out as ' count'. I quash desires to punch people In the face daily, those people who shout Into their phones In the street because they believe their conversation will be riveting to passing pedestrians.

But now, they Insist I must have a separate mobile phone at all times for the Party. So Peter bought me one of these smart phones with Apps for everything. I've had It 3 months and I can't still work out how to use It.

It's no secret that Oscar & I differ greatly on many things, but we also agree on many others. However, I think Ihave interpreted her comment here as not being intended to have a go at anyone, but to make a tongue in cheek quip. If she were to have a go at you, believe me, you'd know it.

I teach alternative high school all day, in a small room with 35 teenagers full of angst. Then I teach the After School Program for an hour and a half with 50 teenagers desperate to regain their credits. Finally I teach Night School until 7 pm before I drag myself, body aching, ears burning, and brain spinning, back to my home.:yh_sweat

Believe me, any time I can get online, like right now in the quiet before the day starts is a welcome, calming bonus.:yh_hypno

Did I mention I teach Saturday school? =^..^=
