Unfortunately the 2nd link goes to what I imagine to be the story page, but is spammed out with a Subscription banner, until you close it, at which point it reverts to the FT Index page.

I think it's a subject that everyone who is in touch with reality is fully aware of, which makes it even more demeaning when the Tories crow about their supposed success about how much better off we all are ever since they got into power & turning a blind eye to the existence of such conditions.
My biggest fear, tbh, is that at the next Election there will be so much support for UKIP that the anti-Tory vote will be split between them & Labour, thus, once again, giving the Tories the edge.

It really does highlight the class divide that Tories so vehemently deny.
I can't see anything UKIP have ever said that address's this Issue nor Labour come to that.
I find It shocking that In this day and age normal people are turning to food banks as a last resort.

Both my Doctor & a friend of mine (who manages a Food Bank) have tried to officially refer me (as, contrary to popular belief, it's not something you can just pop into & grab some free grub), but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I preferred to go hungry, despite what they kept telling me.
It may be self deprecating, but there's still an element of pride. The thing is, that a parent without enough money to buy food for her kids can't afford such a basic Human Right as Self-Esteem.
