Michelle Obama Cites View of Growing Segregation

TOPEKA, Kan. — Sixty years after the Supreme Court outlawed “separate but equal” schools for blacks and whites, civil rights advocates say American schools are becoming increasingly segregated, while the first lady, Michelle Obama, lamented that “many young people are going to schools with kids who look just like them.”

I find that Interesting because the UK seems to be going the same way.

It's like nothing was learned from the Civil Rights movement or Ireland pre war.

We are going backwards.

Right. And? Does that have anything to do with the validity or importance of what she said? I know you're not saying First Ladies don't get involved in their own pursuits--each & every one of them did.

Sounds weird, but I was mad at Lady Bird Johnson's "Beautify America" program when she went after those Burma Shave ads down South. I loved those!

OK, so they say.:-3

“Many districts in this country have actually pulled back on efforts to integrate their schools,

Problem being?

and many communities have become less diverse,” she said,

OK, no problem here, in the real world.

Today about four in 10 black and Latino students attend intensely segregated schools, the federal Department of Education reported on its official blog

New York Times

That is total BS. If true, or even rumored segregation Obama's lap dog Holder would would be all over that.

Let me share something with you... something I shall ever find amusing.... we are a canny lot us British..

When president Kennedy visited England, thousands and thousands line the streets to welcome him.

When President Clinton visited England, thousands lined the streets to welcome him.

When George Bush visited England, thousands lined the streets to express their dissaproval of him

When President Obama first visited England for the G8 Summit, approx 10 people turned out and were subsequently arrested for throwing rocks at the then British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, who was there to greet him...

Says It all.

It is about garnering special privileges based on race. It is amazing to me we are all suppose to bow down the a theocracy antithetical to the highest ideals of our Republic.

Our president is not up to the job.

I work in a school district that is 98% hispanic. There is great cultural pride and the ids, parents are great. The word 'segregation' implies some kind of force or involuntary compliance. There is none. People live where they feel most comfortable, full stop.

Our president and virtually all of his administration seem to search for ways to make any situation a racial issue. When they can't, they try to ignore it.

Our president is not up to the job. You know, when Obama was elected, I truly saw It as a new dawning that would unite race and move the world on from those days of racial prejudice. All I see now at every turn Is the race card being played by someone In his Admin, his ridiculous wife or his supporters. It's almost like an attempt to drag America back to those dark days of the civil rights movement.

We have It here but It doesn't come so much from the black races of our country. We get It from Muslim leaders and clerics, the race card played at every turn despite Islam not being a race.

It's almost as though there's an agenda, wanting to keep that racial tension pot stirring. As If they want the segregation and the hatred to continue just so the chip on the shoulder stays firmly wedged.

My objection Is when we can't say a President Is not up to the job without the race card being played.

"almost as though"???? I'm convinced of it. In the US, white people still whisper the word "black" when describing a person, lest they be accused of actually noticing. It's a real demonstration of courage to plow ahead and point out the truth nowadays, especally about Barack Obama. Even using his middle name (Husein) will bring forth cries of racism.

This morning I read some American newspaper article on line about how since the Obama Administration, more students have been arrested, prosecuted, expelled and had careers ruined by this agenda of reporting Innocent racial faux pas's encouraged by Michelle Obama.

What I don't understand Is why this agenda?

Here In England, I do believe we have moved on a great deal from the divide between black and white as America seems to have. Inner cities could still do with Investing more opportunities for young blacks but I see no divide. In fact, I'd say relations with the black communities are good. We all Integrate, we have mixed marriages, we have mixed race children. Rarely, do you see In the media racial tension between black communities and white. Yet, we also have our Left politicians who will serve no more than stir the pot. We have black politicians who keep popping up and reminding us of a divide that no-one else see's.

It Is entirely different to the problem with have with Islam and what's going on In our food chain, our schools, our hate clerics etc because then we are talking religion and not race. But I myself believe the world has moved forward hugely In the past 20 years with race and don't get why anyone In power wants to drag us back to those dark days of race riots, segregation, fear and Inequality.

What on earth are they hoping to achieve?

eta.... example. Morons like this waiting, ready to pounce to play the race card.

The president is playing the race card to divert attention away from his failed policies and assorted scandals. Economic growth is slow. Job creation is slower. ObamaCare has been a disaster. The administration lied about Benghazi. No one is being held accountable for IRS snooping. And that's the short list.

Mr. Obama's polices aren't working and he's losing the trust of voters. His job-approval numbers reflect this reality. His race is not the issue. To paraphrase the president, he was black before he was re-elected, too.

It certainly seems to be a subterfuge that I find abhorrent. There are no Seats to be won or money to made, lest of all, less need for a police state If all minorities co-exist.

Concerning using the Wall St. Journal as a genuine link for politics------since it has been monopolized by Rupert Murdoch it has become as reliable as the New York Post or Fox National News. Which is to say, not very reliable, a definite Agenda, far right, my three friends here are quite comfortable with that.

For you it's a left-right thing, so you only see it when you want to see it. You fall for the good cop/bad cop routine. Look objectively for the pattern and you'll see that it's a Progressive thing (capital P). President Obama took President Bush's abuses and continued some & expanded others.

I find your arrogance & false sense of self-superiority to be a delusion of yours, and more typically found in a right-winger such as yourself. By beginning your reply divisively, you are setting up the future for no compromise.

PS---if you saw ALL of the Ultra-Orthodox & Chasidic Jews who own the worst of the slum property tenements in NYC, who openly treat their tenants like garbage you might wonder less about Hymietown. When you don't have an argument, attack the arguer, right?

That's exactly the way I feel about you. Guess we have no more to say to each other, since you're determined to say I wear blinders, I "fall" for good cop/bad cop, I'm not looking objectively (in other words, not seeing things as you do). How can we ever understand each other or communicate when you begin your Defenses with such a Defensive Attitude? I'm not one of your students that you can bully into accepting your version of things.

So, as Mickiel would say 'Peace on your Journey', which really means Phuk Off. Feel better now, teach?

You Are an Arrogant man, of this I have no doubt.

Look for the pattern and you'll see that it's a Progressive thing (capital P), not a left/right or Dem/Repub thing. President Obama took President Bush's abuses and continued some & expanded others.
