NFL Super Bowl XLVII

Post by Lady J »

Well tomorrow will kick off the 48th game of the Super Bowl here in the USA.

The Seattle Seahawks will go against the Denver Broncos with each team bringing a 15 - 3 record to the game.

It should be a really great game!

I'll be watching but mostly for the commercials. There are major players there too!

Large corporations plunge tens of thousands of dollars into these one minute spots to get recognition. I say its the best part of the game :wah:

Many of the sponsors have already released sneak peeks of their commercials and I couldn't resist to go look at what Budweiser had for this year.

Take a look.....

Super Bowl commercials 2014: Budweiser's 'Puppy Love' will make you say 'Awww' | PennLive.com

I'm sure there will be plenty of excellent commercials....

I am looking forward to the game. Don't really pay much attention to the commercials and usually have the sound silenced, as I can't stand to listen to most of the announcer-babble.

Yes, Lady J, it should be a good game! I'm rooting for the Seahawks. :-6

CBS charged as much as $4 million for one of those 30 second commercials, so I guess I'll be watching them too, to see if it was money well spent. :wah:

I understand the game and appreciate competitiveness and unless the game is close and tense I lose interest....but the commercials always keep me tuned in.

tude let us know what your favorite commercial is afterwards.....OK?

Ahhh... a Seattle fan!! Well since I have no team in particular I am rooting for perhaps I will chose the Seahawks!

Mustang are you doing the whole party routine? You know...tons of food, drink and family/friends? I think that is also a big part of Super Bowl.

Try to keep track of the commercials and let us know which one was your favorite ~ k?

I'm still in favor of the Bud commercial....love dogs and the Clydesdales are untouchable!

Go Seahawks!!!!:yh_party

Hey, me too! My old high school won state champs for the first time since 1958 this year, and I've been a Bronco fan since I lived in Boulder, Colorado in the 1960s and went to their games. (I got to see their first shut out of another team back then!)

I watched today, & it's on all day, the Kitten Bowl on the Hallmark Channel. Some were fined for biting & unnecessary cuteness. Four teams are playing & I believe the North Shore Bengals took the prize! Hope I didn't spoil the finish.

There's also a Puppy Bowl, I think on Animal Planet.

I'll watch tonight's half-time, I love Bruno Mars & Red Hot Chili Peppers. I don't know if I'll watch the game, though. My favorite team are the Patriots, & if they are not in it I lose some interest.

One of the players in the Kitten Bowl was Tomcat Brady.

I saw the trailer for the Kitten, bowl a while back. Not sure I could tolerate all that cuteness.

I tend to go take care of other things during the half-time show. They always try to do way too much on the half-time show, and it never really makes much sense to me. The last one I actually enjoyed was Pete Fountain and Doug Kershaw in 1990.

A few had moments of brilliance, disturbed by the producers' cramming too much "stuff" into the show.

Well I don't know either team or their players but I say the win will be by a 7 point spread.

I really don't care who wins as long as it is a close game.

As I said I'm here for the commercials! :)

Well, THAT didn't turn out the way I planned it.

Seahawks have a damned good Defense. And their offense looked pretty good, too.

Russell Wilson is a class act.

Hahahahaha! I watched the Kitten Bowl too! Interesting. I wondered how they would score. The scwiggley track was a nice touch. Actually, I liked it better than the actually event which was a wash for me.

I'm happy that the Seahawks won, even though I'm a Steelers fan. Almost thought the game was going to be a shut out. Took the Bronco's until 10 seconds before the 4th quarter to get a score on the boards. Manning sure didn't look happy. :wah:

Commercials: Dorittos Time Machine, Dorittos Cowboy Kid and Budweiser's Puppy Love were my favorites. What were yours, Lady J?

I liked the Coca Cola "It's Beautiful" commercial. Puppy Love was great, too.

I liked the Doritos, both of them, but the cowboy takes the edge.

Also thought Bruno Mars did a good show. He has a great career ahead, I think.

Wife has roots in Colorado so I had to experience a touch of the agony of defeat.

No way I am a fan of football. My following comment is no way to criticize the sport, or your loss.

Saying this without watching a moment of last nights massacre, been my observation that these Super Bowl contests often are among the worst of the season.

Sports reflects life. If you're having a bad day, everything can seem to go wrong, all at once.

I don't know what happened to the Denver team, but it seemed they were definitely having a bad day.

Attitude can mean so much.

Example I like to use. Basketball free throws. I can go to the gym, and shoot free throws all day long. I once hit 100 out of 100. But I doubt that, where I standing on the floor with a few thousand of my closest friends watching, I could hit 1 for 10. The mechanics should be the same, but somehow the brain gets into the middle of it, and it suddenly becomes harder.

So once something goes wrong, the brain takes over and all the mechanics get out of sorts.

There is a saying in the NFL, "Any Given day" meaning any given day any team can take the field and win against any other team in the league.

Statistically, the Broncos should have been toe to toe against the Seahawks all night, and it should have been a difference of 3-6 points, coming down to the last few minutes. Both teams are that good.

But it seems that the Bronco Offense just misfired right from the get-go, and it went downhill from there.

And Seattle's Defense never let up, and never let Manning and his his gang catch their breath and get back in the game. They were executing well, and they were inspired, and they never let up. They scored half the points in the game.

And starting out ahead, the Seahawks offense could relax a bit and play their game. The Denver defense got into the same feeling of desperation, and had a tough time keeping up with Russell Wilson. He was very good at his job, and made some excellent plays.

Seattle could well be the team to be reckoned with for the next few years. I've always had a lot of respect for Pete Carroll. he is a leader of men.

I fully expect the Broncos to be back in the hunt next year, though, and we might see a different outcome in 2015.

(I sure hope so.)

There have been some really bad games over the years, where one team just romps and leaves the other panting in the dust. The Broncos have been that 'other team' a couple of times.

But there have been some great games as well.

(Last night, obviously was NOT one of those)

I liked both of the Doritos ones and I liked the Chev Romance and Dannon Yogurt Spill :sneaky: but of course Puppy Love was my favorite :-4 You know they used 17 Clydesdales and 8 puppies to film that and the horse were in training for 3 months. Amazing!

I was disappointed in the M&M Delivery commercial cuz for something as cute as an M&M you would have thought it would have been more creative.

And I did not like the Audi Doberhuahua at all. Want to take a guess why! :yh_rotfl

I agree LarsMac. Attitude can make or break you. I think with the poor start the Broncos got off to within minutes of the start of the game threw them.

I did a little reading before the game and the football Gurus even thought that Denver was going to take the game.

Sigh....well we all know someone has to win and someone has to lose.

I was kinda rooting for Payton just so I wouldn't have to hear all the talking heads say he has messed up his legacy, what a bunch of crap. It was a blowout, the last blow out was 12 years ago. Back in the 80's and 90's it seemed that every game was a blowout but we've had a few good ones lately. I love me some NFL, I'll watch whether it's a blowout or not.

I watched a play off game from one of the sports book rooms in a big casino in Las Vegas. Huge screens and lots of action. They had bets going on every little item in the game, from who would score first, when that score would come, missed field goals, etc.

I wonder if anyone had a bet that the first score would come on the first play and be a safety? If so, what were the odds and payout?

I know the odds for the first score to be a safety was +800. I doubt they had a safety on the first play line. If they did it would be astronomical.
