But Keep on Smilin' is one of those songs that just "spoke to me" at just the right moment of my personal history and has been intertwined with those memories ever since. So, I have to vote for Keep on Smilin'.Keep On Smilin' saw me through some very difficult times in my late teens and early twenties. There's a live version of the song on youtube by a band named Deep South which is headed by Jimmy Hall (Wet Willie lead singer) and it's outstanding, I listen to it often when I need lifting. In case anyone's interested:

All that said, for the purpose of this thread and a wonderful rock-n-roll sound plus the fact it's Richie Havens, I have to pick Wild Nights. Havens' version of Wild Nights is beautifully done: it builds nicely and I enjoy hearing the small subtle sounds Havens injects into his music. I wish I could have avoided this match up.

That makes the count 5 to 2 in Favor of Wild Nights so far, but we'll give it some more time.

I can't do it!!

That's 7 to 2 in favor of Pretty Woman.

Well, we did it, we completed the first round! It's all downhill from here. Give yourself a pat on the back!

I'd like to try to offer different videos of the songs if I can find descent ones to keep it intresting unless the person who offered the song would like the first video to be used again. For those of you who posted links, I won't do that unless you give the okay.

Also, I'm going to be more deliberate with the match ups now.

Round 2:

Linda Ronstadt - Heat Wave

VS

Andy Kim - Rock Me Gently (HQ) 1974 - YouTube

I'm good with that.

Actually, if other artist have done the same piece, perhaps posting the other artists might be good.

I think we are supposed to be voting on the song, rather than the artists, anyway.

Am I wrong?

Am I wrong?I was thinking a particular artist and song and just finding different videos, though we can do it your way too is we like. One problem I can see with that though is that the original listings were most likely made with certain artists in mind and each person would have to resubmit a new list with the new artists. That might get a bit hairy.

Yeah, I don't really want to complicate things all that much.

I have to resist the temptation to "tweak" stuff. You can just tell me to sit down and shut up. (politely, please)

However you want to do it, I am good with it.

Keep up the good work.

I don't think they're that different. Both songs emphasize vocals. Although one is harmonizing and the other isn't, I'd say they're still comparable enough.

Yeah, both music. Good enough.

"Days of Future Past" is a popular storyline in the Marvel Comics comic book The Uncanny X-Men issues #141 and #142, published in 1981." Wikpedia.

Moody Blues is Passed .

Ok, please explain. If we are in Round 2, that means you are picking only winners from Round 1 & pitting them against each other to eventually weed out all but everyone's all-time favorite? :-3 :-2

And yes to your summary about the game. We'll eventually end up with one song remaining. You make it sound like MMA Fighting. :)
