I hope we're actually listening to the songs/videos because you never know if one might do something different for you in that session.

I'll ditto this.

Why is it some combinations I have never heard or forgotten about, and others are classics together?

I have always been irritated by Jimmy Page (I don't know why) but it has to be Stairway to Heaven

This is a toss up for me so I'll say On The Road Again and stand with Brother Mac.

That's 5 to 2 in favor of Stairway To Heaven.

Moving right along:

I didn't really think Rage Against the Machine would go down too well. I understand it might grate a little, it's not an easy listen. The loud harsh vocals and heavy guitars reflect the anger and political statements. It serves a purpose to be raucous hence the bands name but I love its energy and excitement. I don't always like my rock music to be safe

Rage for me too. Saw them years ago in Boston. Funny but guess who else likes them? Why none other than Paul Ryan. He likes Led Zep too. They must have choked if they heard that. Mr. so called Libertarian (looks like a 1930's Fascist) Paul Ryan.

Yes, that's the fan they all have in mind. He's truly insane.

I don't consider I Can't Stop Loving You as rock, and even though I like the song better than Light My Fire and think Ray Charles was a wonderful vocalist, I have to go with Light My Fire. I'll be listening to Ray Charles much more often than The Doors though. Sorry, Bruv.

I doubt anyone would mind if he wanted to tweak his list. When I was putting my list together, I had to mull over a few of my choices to decide if they were actually rock or if they would more likely be considered pop.

P.S.

I've already started a new list of songs so I hope we do another round!

If Bruv doesn't want to revise his original list, maybe he could start a new list too.

Well, I don't mind either. though it is interesting to see the wide array of music that people come up with that can be considered of the "Rock" Genre

As for list revisions, or new lists, I know that as soon as we started this, I heard several numbers that had me thinking, immediately that those should have been on my list.

And I confess that even on my own list, there may be one or two that someone might say, "That's not Rock"

I don't see a problem with revising a list for any songs not yet reviewed.

I don't really know if I am into rock either, I do like some heavy stuff, but am more soul, r&b, and the like.

Your selection includes McCartney, Stevie Wonder twice and George Harrison, none of which I would call rock, this is not a criticism.

I think it fair that I stick with what I have already, and learn to read and understand better next time round.

White Rabbit is a good tune in that it's a bit haunting musically, and it was the theme song for the movie Go Ask Alice. But, really, the lyrics are not all that good if you ask me. It appears to be a song written and performed by teenagers about drug use with some references to Alice In Wonderland. I really think what's been made of the song was just as surprising to Jefferson Airplane as it was to anyone else. That happens to musical tunes sometimes.
