Our political system needs a good shake up but UKIP gaining any real power would be a disaster for the UK.

I think It speaks volumes.
The Tin pot Party Cameron dismissed as closest racists and nutters has taken 25 % of the vote. What's also worth noting Is the appalling turn out. In some of my area's, It was a low as 31 %
The message Is quite clear.... Lib Dems suffered a bloodbath as I predicted. ( smirk ) and the electorate are sick to death of the two main parties.
UKIP Is actually the first alternative party to make these gains with an Immigration policy. Labour and Con really need to take that on board.

The immigration people really objected to was all the asian immigration in particular moslem integration and the influx of people who refuse to integrate or accept the mores of our society. Most of that has taken place in the past and can't be undone, The UK has always had high levels of immigration very much to our benefit you can go back and find several hundred years numerous instances where the influx of economic migrants has benefited us. The real problem is a religious and cultural one not race. UKIP bang on about immigration and europe when neither is the real cause of our malaise that is thirty years of right wing economic policy. Most people in this country have social democrat views on how things should be, we have two main political parties that are seriously out of touch with reality.
The referendum is a joke. We had one when we went in the anti europeans like to pretend that never happened, half the ones I talk to flat out don't even know there was. If Scotland can't become independent without the consent of the rest of the UK how do you think those who promulgate that particular argument deal with the prospect of us leaving the EU after a referendum? Us leaving the EU would have rather serious effects on our economy the notion that europe needs us is a bit silly, we need them not the other way round. The days when we had an empire and europe didn't matter are long long gone.
We shaped the modern europe, defeated all the would be dictators introduced inspired more democratic forms of government and showed the way to industrialisation and modern economies. Running away and taking the ball in the vain hope anyone will actually care is just pathetic. By default we have ended up with a fascist government and economy and it really really sucks. The eu is fascist as well - look at the way the Bankers can appoint a prime minister in Italy and dictate to the greeks that they sell off all their national assets in order to bail out private institutions and individuals who should really be the ones taking the haircut not ordinary people. UKIP is a useful safety valve for a protest vote if they ever got power god help us because they are a bigger joke than the tory and labour party.

One of the things I love about Brighton my home town Is the Cosmopolitan feel. We have Italian Quarters, Greek Quarters, Spanish etc etc and It's fantastic because all Integrate.
The problem with the mass Immigration under Labour ( who now admit they got It wrong ) Is It was too much too soon. Some area's suffered burdens on the health system and the education system that took decades to recover from. Social housing also suffered and poor management saw us with ethnic ghetto's. What's happened, is Instead of this lovely multi-cultural eutopia that Labour envisaged, we have ethnic estates and communities refuse to Integrate, let alone learn our language. Instead of those ethnic communities Integrating, they have become very Insular and we are seeing even crimes that we never saw 25 years ago. forced marraiges, honour killings, female genital mutilation etc etc. Sharia law courts have finally been exposed on national TV as a hotbed for treating Muslim women as 2nd rate citizens.

It's not just moslem though is it - misogynist is a word that equally applies to the christian church. Then again I would say that any doctrine where sex is the original sin is bound to end up with a rather odd view of the world. It was eve's fault that adam ws a randy so and so with no self control. Did no one tell you that?

Says it all really. Woul;d you like a list of all the companies that would pull out of Britain if we were no longer members? Nissan came pretty close

EU membership is crucial to Britain's growing car industry
80% of all vehicles produced in the UK are still sold overseas, over half of them in the EU.
http://www.smmt.co.uk/wp-content/upload ... 2_WEBv.pdf
If the UK were to leave the single market British-produced vehicles would face import tariffs from 10% to 22%, as well as numerous regulatory barriers. Major foreign investors such as Nissan, Ford and BMW would rapidly look elsewhere, probably to more secure EU members such as Poland or the Czech Republic. Even if the British government was able to renegotiate a unilateral free trade deal with the EU, it would be unlikely to enjoy unrestricted access to the single market and the accompanying uncertainty would make any would-be investors think twice.
And what do the tories think about encouraging our industrial base?

UK's new coalition government might cut Nissan's £20m loan to build the Leaf in Sunderland
Not to worry we will still have financial services to, prop us alll up won't we.
