Most of the so called biblical mysteries have a logical scientific explanation. Doesn't detract from the story and makes an awful lot more sense.

The 'Biblical Mysteries Eplained' Is a fascinating series If you ever get to watch them all.

A good one was when Oceanologists and Geologists proved there had been a Tsunami In the Red Sea around biblical times. The receding of the ocean as Tsunami's do beore the tidal wave comes back would explains the parting of the sea as described In the bible. Also explains the Great Flood.

Does not make sense is trying to prove this or that story from the Bible satisfies scientific inquiry.

I always found it more interesting to explore not only who and when wrote such stores, but where did they come from.

On a different level, are there lessons to be learned from the Bible and why?

But aren't you curious as to what they were really seeing and what actually happened?

On a different level, are there lessons to be learned from the Bible and why? I don't think It's about what lessons we can learn from the bible because I don't believe extraordinary miracles or events took place In biblical times that we can learn from.

The bible Is a historical diary of events from biblical times that can now be scientifically explained right down to The Burning Bush.

The only thing that has changed since biblical times Is the advancement of science to explain what they believed at the time to be works of God.

It is my sense that most all Biblical stories have some historical basis, somewhere. What I learn from those stories are not dependent on miracles, extraordinary events or even if certain personalities actually lived.

Why does the Bible get this special consideration?

Why not the myths, legends and stories of other cultures?

Long story short (so to speak), these stories are a way to communicate from one genaration to the next moral, values, ethics etc.

Because we see them as myths, legends and stories the bible is seen by many as the word of god, they get very upset if you suggest that maybe some of the events like the parting of the red sea or sodom and gomorrah might be an interpretation of an event we would now see as a natural phenomenon.

This one is actually an interesting one, in part because it is scientific enquiry throwing light of a Biblical story rather than the other way around.

Seventy miles north of Crete lies the island of San Torini which, during the right timescale, did a good impression of a super-volcano and covered the area with millions of tonnes of ash at the same time as raising a large tsunami which would have emptied the waters of the reed sea before sending a wall of water to flood it again.

In addition it would have provided a pillar of fire by night and a tower of smoke by day.

The other big effect that the explosion had was to destroy the Minoan civilisation which was based on Crete and San Torini.

The science is well documented, that the Biblical description ties in so well with it is a big plus for the Bible.

The Burning Bush can be explained by volcanic vents. In the bible it says the bush burnt out but not consumed. The vents send up Imflamable gases which are hot enough to combust a bush but not destroy It.

There Is only bush In the region of Egypt that could do this, the Acacia bush.
